The talk that the Cubs were going to try and extend Javy/Rizzo/Bryant were always going to just end with "we tried!" because Ricketts was never willing to spend what those guys are actually worth in FA. Rizzo's already taken an extremely team friendly deal, he's under zero obligation to take a second one and good for him for deciding to walk unless the tune changes. If the Cubs aren't absolutely killing it I expect them to go into full firesale mode come the TDL.
