I know vaccine shopping isn't exactly smiled upon, but my concern with AZ isn't the risk but the efficacy with variants. With the age-based rollout in BC, it's all Moderna and Pfizer currently. But with Moderna supply issues and Rich Uncle Joe dumping millions more doses of AZ on Canada, I'm concerned that I'll be offered AZ when my turn rolls around. I guess I don't see a way to hold out for the mRNA one given the logistics of everything.

AZ looks to be terrible at the new variants. Like, I get it. Better to have something than nothing. People are dying from Vanilla COVID, and everything's hosed. We'll all probably be getting mRNA boosters against variants in the next 12 months anyways. And there's a chance that AZ actually out performs against some future variant over the mRNA vaccines. We just don't know. But Astra Zeneca will provide you with a lot of protection right now.

There are 100% people in ICUs in Canada right now dying because they waited for "the better shot" and caught COVID in the meantime. That kind of self inflicted stupidity would destroy me as a person. I was hesitant for a split second but thats why I took the Astra Zeneca last week. Just do it.

Just purely out of not wanting to screw things up for others, I'm sure I'll just take whatever I'm offered at first chance. Not really knowing what will happen next regarding third shots and variants etc. just makes this all difficult to think about.

Yeah there's really no point in being that worried about variants right now, since none of the current vaccines will be as effective against future variants. You'll have to survive that long for it to matter though.

As someone trying to keep an art practice alive throughout the horror of being working poor in covid I would do unspeakable things to be shut up indoors for a couple months while receiving gov't money. That is basically a creation grant.

I'm for vaccination but against people shunting off the potential dangers because they won't personally experience them. Someone I know is booked for Pfizer but posts constantly about how great and safe AZ is and they'd totally for sure get it if not for already scheduled for a better one- that's literally speaking from a place of zero credibility or vested interest in the wellbeing of the other person. It's easy to call people everyone else an rear end in a top hat when #1 is well looked after
