Craigslist is a wasteland with the advent of FaceBook Marketplace, especially for cars, since you have to pay to list a car for sale. I know I won't use them because of that.

They charge now? Ugh.

FB is so much harder to find anything useful in the marketplace. The categories suck and it doesn’t like searching outside the immediate vicinity.

Search on Facebook marketplace intentionally sucks because they get more engagements (you spend more time on fb) while you filter through junk. And it totally sucks that craigslist is pretty much dead because people would rather just stay in one app.

A shop quoted me $650 to change the fuel filler neck on a 2000 Mustang ... lol. I mean, I didn't want to do it myself, but I don't $650 not want to do it myself. The part is $70 on rockauto, a transmission jack to make lifting lowering the tank easier is $1-200 at harbor freight, and having been in there recently/before, I can't see it taking me more than 2 hours.

It won't. I did that exact same job with a regular floor jack. It was a little squirrelly but I got it done. Did yours rot away due to crap being trapped between the tube and the corrugated plastic "shield"?

That may not have helped, although it's never been outside California, so not likely.

I had to replace the fuel pump in late February 2020, and did so, but forgot to put the little retainer clip back on the (pressure?) line. When I took it back out to put that on, I forgot to undo the bolts at the body at first. Realized it after the first tug, undid them, fixed everything, put it all back together - then filled it up with gas on March 14th, 2020 and realized it was leaking from the filler neck as I pulled back to the curb in front of my house.

I'm disappearing for a bit; don't worry. I've talked to HR at my employer about going into rehab.

To be honest, I'm just digging a well right now, and it's raining piss lovely beer. I'm hoping to be in detox within 48 hours, and probably a 30 day residential after. Work is paying for the bulk of it.

I'll see y'all soon. Much love to all of you.

Serious chat though, going in tomorrow morning at the latest, but I've already been awake 18 hours. I'm getting ping ponged between internal company poo poo, BCBS, and ComPsych, but I SHOULD have it figured out soon (BCBS should be handling it, but that's new for mental health with my employer as of, uh, January - used to be bounced between ComPsych and internal company poo poo). My SO has already dealt with two major meltdowns this week, including one where I was curled up in the back of my car in a 90 degree garage. :sigh:

Yes, that’s the last of the snow on the left.

Smoked a tri tip and grilled some brats; our tenants made fry bread buns, another friend brought over a spinach and strawberry salad, plus a couple other friends - all of us vaccinated.

Apologies if this comes across as flexing but goddamn it’s weird and yet amazing to do totally normal things.

No that's awesome and I'm jealous in the best way. It's my wife's birthday today, hopefully she's well enough after Tuesdays vaccination to enjoy a takeout tonight, can't do much else at the moment. Got my birthday Saturday, I'll see my parents for the first time in 18 months which is the best present I could ask for at the moment.

STR I feel you've been here enough to recognise that long term you're going to have to give up drinking for good. You've had a lot of close calls in various ways, I don't think you can continue to push your luck.

Not a flex. We had dinner outside with neighbors last week. It was weird and great. We still haven't gotten to a restaurant for outside dining... It just feels wrong even though we're fully vaccinated. TBH, I'm not sure I'll get there before the kid arrives.

Just replaced a brake line on my neighbor's F350. It's weird, I know how to do it, I've done similar things before, I did it in about 30 minutes, including bleeding, there were no leaks and it fixed the problem they were having with the caliper locking up... but I have an impostor syndrome feeling like it's weird for me to do that job.

I was super worried that the flare nut was going to seize an twist the hard line, but plenty of PB Blaster and brake fluid lubrication kept that from happening.

And toy cars, definitely toy cars. So much of my childhood was spent making up sandbox car adventures.

Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Corgi, there are a bunch of manufacturers, most of them produce 1:64 scale models, but there are others as well. The larger ones tend to be more elaborate, but the 1:64 ones tend to be mostly one piece, sometimes with opening doors or hoods. They tend to be more robust because of that.

Haha so funny story about that. My Mom is not a sentimental person, she is a Marie Kondo "toss it unless it brings you joy" kind of person (nothing wrong with it). She somehow, for some reason, held onto my matchbox cars from when I was a kid. I finally gave them to him about 3 months ago and he flipped his poo poo. He ran around yelling CARS CARS CARS while zooming my old matchbox cars across the couch.
