I would suspect that the majority of the circulation is going to be actual nazis, and also conspiracy theorists, who generally are just hellbent on the idea that there is someone orchestrating everything that happens and so even if they don't have weird ideas about the need to restore the monarchy (not the lizard monarchy) then they at the very least are going to be nodding along and going yes YES it's all true I know it was a plot by the secret illuminati throughout ALL OF HISTORY etc etc. And that seems to entirely supercede any coherent political ideas? Like the really key thing is that their understanding of the shape of history is correct, their understanding of how the historical process works (it is not material forces it is all a big conspiracy) and from that validation they then get their politics (which is why their politics are bad because people who think it's all a big satanic conspiracy are also usually raging antisemites and theocrats and all sorts of insane poo poo)
I think what mostly got me was just how dull and poorly written/chopped together it was for supposedly being the most widely distributed antisemitic libel. I don't know what I was expecting, I think a lot more blood libel and ritual murder and well poisonings. Those are also terrible things to believe but you can see why they got interest and caused panic, the same reason that the most popular Satanic Panic stories go into gruesome detail about infant sacrifice and eating hearts and so on. "We are so evil and vicious that we will replace hereditary offices with elected officials" doesn't really get the same effect for me.

You definitely have to want to believe that it's true to even be slightly convinced, even before it was fully proven a fraud courts all over the world called it offensive nonsense (which to the conspiracist is more proof of shadowy forces controlling the courts I suppose), but you also have to believe that it's terrible, that the New World Order is definitely going to be worse than the old one for reasons, that any sort of progress is more proof of Them. I vaguely recall that the scanned copy I found had some handwritten poo poo about the UN in the margins because of course it did.

e: 117 is the police emergency number in Switzerland, one of the first countries to official rule that the Protocols were 'fake and stupid as poo poo'.

In terms of diseases and overall health early agriculture was probably much worse than what came before it, and Shaver & Brady's Women in Ancient Civilizations makes the case that those societies were the birthplace of patriarchy and so probably weren't great on the gender roles front.

For those of you who are interested, here's a link to the Williams-Shapps plan which sets out the plan for the railways.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/great-british-railways-williams-shapps-plan-for-rail
It's an interesting read, but for those of you that can't be arsed here is some hot takery:

- The plan is based on a review by Williams et a lot of als. Shapps has his name on it for being in charge at the moment.
- In 2022 the government will release a long term rail strategy to cover the next 30 years. That's good in that it requires planning beyond the usual 5 year horizon, but it remains to be seen whether there'll be detail or just "1000mph trains with fusion" pablum. You could read a lot into a government making a 30 year plan. Are they expecting a Tory 100 year reich? Are they nailing their colours to the mast? Or is it a cynical assumption that nothing survives 30 years in politics so why not go for a grand statement?
- Network wide electrification is back on the go because gently caress you Grayling. Unproven and uncosted technologies like hydrogen and batteries will be used where electrification looks expensive. For no good reason there's an expansion of the most dogshit power source of all, third rail.
- Franchising is being replaced by direct management, except where it isn't. Passengers on Govia Thameslink will be familiar with the direct management model, the rows with train crews, the lowest satisfaction levels of any service in the country and the 15% cancellations. It's not a panacea, and it definitely doesn't measure up to the billing that there'll be no more of the adversarial behaviour franchising was famous for.
- The old logo is coming back which I think is actually rather nice.

When I was in practice, about 90% of our work was on an LEI basis, & I never saw a policy that didn't specifically exclude libel, on account of it being ridiculously expensive. Presumably policies covering libel exist, but they'd be prohibitively expensive for most (e: ^^^ but not R, apparently (who's "O"? (e2: nm I solved the puzzle)))

Hope Rosen fights the fucker, anyway. He'd have to argue that having created the image that he shared would lower him in the estimation of right-thinking people generally. It's true, but it's also a spectacular own goal.

It's not *technically* insurance, but a lot of agents will have good relationships with reputation management firms and be able to at least fire off a few writs cheaply - despite no-win-no-fee being scaled back (a bit) these days, they're still willing to take on the initial work at a hefty discount and with very generous payment terms in hopes of a nice juicy costs order at the end of the case.

I would have so much more (i.e. >0) respect for Musk if TBC/Hyperloop* were actually working on Newton Tunnels (i.e. dig a direct straight-line through the entire Earth between two points - ignoring frictional losses you can travel, effectively for free, between any two points on the planet in 42 minutes).

* Also it's a true masterpiece of cult manipulation how all the bazingas have *completely* forgotten that Hyperloop was originally going to be >600 mph rail links above ground, and has in fact always been sewer tunnels that a single car can go through at 30.

As population densities of hunter-gatherers slowly rose at the end of the ice ages, bands had to choose between feeding more mouths by taking the first steps toward agriculture, or else finding ways to limit growth. Some bands chose the former solution, unable to anticipate the evils of farming, and seduced by the transient abundance they enjoyed until population growth caught up with increased food production.

The double arrow never left. It's the most powerful of the British Galdrastafir. Carved on a building, all clocks within become synchronised with Railway Time and the sandwiches curl. This one on York Station is rumoured to be able to move. https://goo.gl/maps/JsW7E19uFJGeGA737
Every time someone comes to take it down it's vanished. Sometimes during these absences it's glimpsed lurking deep in the pigeon filled shadows of the barrel roof. Then, as soon as the coast is clear, it's back out front again.

It has a strange ability to appear on 21st century structures where it has no right to be https://goo.gl/maps/ohFNG19DgMXr7gP99
Nobody quite knows how this happens, or why. There are rumours of involvement by a shadowy cabal called the Bang Road Brotherhood, but the same people will tell you that they know why the Kings Cross fire really happened, or that if you count the rows of windows on the outside of New Street signal box, then count the floors, you get a different number.

Pericles, leader of Athens, just wanted to build cool poo poo. Alas: behind the boot of Italy, across the Adriatic sea, is a place now known as Durrës, Albania. In the 400s BC it was a colony and city state called Epidamnos. There was a minor and extremely local problem in Epidamnos: a native uprising against colonial forces, which may well have been contained to the region. However, the colonists appealed to their motherland Corcyra. These appeals were ignored. Then the colonists appealed Corcyra's motherland (and Corcyra's most hated adversary) Corinth. Corinth determined to crush the rebellion, in return for the obvious condition of subordinance. Therefore Corcyra joined the cause of the natives, presenting Athens with a quandary.

Corinth was in Sparta's street gang, and neutral Corcyra had the second largest navy in all of the Mediterranean. Corcyra's Navy was second only to Athens's. If Sparta, through Corinth, successfully invaded and claimed Corcyra using Epidamnos as its cassus belli, it would possess a navy that could threaten Athens. Left with no other choice, Athens allied with Corcyra, and this began the erosion of the peace between Athens and Sparta.

Pericles just wanted to build cool poo poo, and proto-realpolitik kicked his sandcastle.

As I understand it, they make most of their money the same as any other insurer - people put in their monthly payments, and hopefully never have to claim. On the rare occasion they do have to claim, the insurer is loaded enough to get the kind of lawyer who can not only win, but get the opposition to pay the legal fees anyway.

I think the insurance is designed to protect authors and journos from people bringing libel cases against them, so I'm not sure why hr dancer husband has it. Maybe I misheard, but around the time her friend O was harrassing a teenager with anxiety i'm sure I read an article saying that - maybe it's O's husband who has the insurance.
