The 9 fractional shares will be sold and you'll get the proceeds. Call and raise hell about the reorg fee and you might get it back, or maybe you can get some free trades out of it if you have to pay per trade.

Pretty much. Good luck getting the fee back, generally the brokers should have some discretion about that and if you don't talk to the manager you won't get it back anyway.

Death is whimsical today

I'm considering moving away from Fidelity, mainly due to the fact that I can't get the website or app to show pre/after prices (about the same as this guy's problem). I know it seems nitpicky but it drives me crazy, along with their website still only about half done in the "new" style after ~10 years of revamping. Also, my account is tied to a 401(k) from like 3 jobs ago (it's long since been transferred to Vanguard) so I always feel like the account terms could be changed or something; although they do appear to give me margin since I can trade immediately upon submitting a deposit.

Does TD Ameritrade easily display extended hours pricing and how does it compare to Fidelity?

Switch to a broker that doesn't charge you for forced splits. You can also call and complain about this and probably get it comped (just the one time, and just to get you off the phone)

Yeah, this is precisely why I left eTrade.

When I called to let them know I was moving to Vanguard, they offered to refund 2 such fees (which I had not actually incurred, they misunderstood). Just say you're leaving because of the fees, and they'll refund it.

I use the thinkorswim app with TD but yes it clearly displays the after hours pricing.

TD Ameritrade's desktop client is extremely good IMO, it's an extremely powerful platform though and the first time you open it up you're gonna be confronted with a ton of stuff that doesn't necessarily work intuitively, so get ready to do some tutorials and stuff.

It does actually work ok in the hell world scenarios where inflation in your country is at 100%+, or the government decides to take a big chunk of bank deposits just because they can, or the government says you can't take assets out of the country.

Unfortunately these scenarios are becoming more common. We just had an airliner over Europe diverted by a loving mig so that a government could grab people off the plane. Things are getting spicier every goddamn day.

OK, just realize no one expects their bitcoin to be worthwhile in the scenario where we are knifing each other over rats on a stick. Its one hell of a straw man though!

There is a lot of ground to cover between

1) 100% of retirement funds in a mix of US stocks and US bonds, with expectations for amazing golden years with fabulous health care and abuse-free assisted living

and

2) A diversified portfolio of various guns, different calibers of ammo, lots of stabby things, and a pile of canned food

Oh sure, although I would suggest there are definitely crypto nerds out there who think bitcoin will still be viable in the post-apocalypse society (which they'll be rulers over). Probably just a tiny minority.

Every month I tell myself to stay the hell away from GME and then days like this happen and it makes me want to buy puts. I think the AMC and GME craziness will continue through the end of this week, and if GME hits $240 I don't think I'll be able to stay away.

Funny enough I bought some OTM $15 calls from AMC that expire this Friday and they're soaring now. Hopefully these maniacs can get it to $20 so I can buy myself something nice.
