Wait if I'm reading that ranking right, we have 60 pops while the fascists have 82? How the hell did they manage that?

There was six billion Grammich on Rastaban Va New Washington

edit: assuming the human 1 pop = 300 million people scale also applies to a bunch of big rock aliens.

Presumably they got a good starting planet and had a couple other nearby solid planets they were able to colonize very quickly.

We need to liberate the Grammich and introduce them to the concept of multi-modal advertising.

If we properly humiliate the NAF in this war, maybe we can branch out of our hermit foreign policy a little and convince New India to come to our side, of the people who aren't already deeply enmeshed in a coalition they're the most like-minded group to us.

At this point, yeah. I'd support exiting Isolationism and starting to return to being the UN. Probably with a Ranked list of nations we'd want to focus Diplomacy on.

Eh, we still have a lot of room for internal development, especially in light of our newfound terraforming expertise. With a bit of time and capital investments, I think we might have the potential to stand alone against any threat. Or at the very least be in a position to ensure we get to dictate the terms of any deals with foreign powers.

Oh yeah, also: have we seen anything related to traditions/perks so far? I don't remember, and some perks are... very fun.

with the planetary habitats and habitats in general we'll realistically never run out of room for internal development fwiw. I'm running a game with a similar modlist as Crisis and my main system has something like 15 different settlements in it because you can put a planetary habitat on every stellar body and a regular one in its orbit. So at some point we'll just have to decide to change course independently of our development because there's always going to be more room to grow into.

Sword of the Lord
2300 - 2310

It is January 5th 2300. New Year's celebrations aboard Alioth Station have subsided and with fresh crews with high morale the United Nations Navy departs again for the border where a small NAF force is attempting to retake Sceptrum.

And meanwhile a thousand lightyears away the Regulus fleet the "Ares Angels" has managed to cross the hazardous and almost entirely unmapped southern portion of the Iguo Veil, bypassing any major NAF defences and finding themselves in the Polaris system where a meager space station is the only thing standing between them and New Salt Lake City, a major New American mining world.

__________________________________________________________________________

On the Bastion research continues across a wide range of fields, but key focus has been given into areas - colonization of the core systems and improved weapons and equipment for the UNN.

Vance Blair has returned to the Bastion after his two decade tenure as the captain of the UN-Septime, bringing back with him many tales of strange and wondrous far-off stars and all the peoples he and his crew have met. Technically they have gone further and met more people than anyone else in the UN. Blair helps update the antiquated kinetic weapons that most UN ships before beginning to work on devising a way to develop "drydocks" for space vessels (after the captain witnessed such a thing on the RoM all the way over in SoKo space) - obviously space is a premium aboard The Bastion, so all the UN's ships both civil and military have been constructed in the Manila Shipyard - a semi-open area new ships are put together while tether to the Bastion, countless droids and exosuit wearing workers working away in an oxygenless and weightless environment. If Manila can be extended and enclosed then creating ships should be much faster.

__________________________________________________________________________

With the terraforming of Pontianak and the population of the new world jumping from a few hundred million to almost four billion (half of that is droids) in just two decades, there is now an ever greater need to build more cities, more infrastructure and more resource extraction sites to supply it all. United Mining has made Pontinak their new home, moving many of their offices off of the Bastion and gaining an immense amount of power over the new world. With UN citizens being terrestrial-side again and desire to claim and build on the most fertile or beautiful land there are fears that rifts may form between the different colonial groups. UNICA alone cannot keep two billion humans in line and United MIning is given ever greater power and now UM-Security forces keep the peace on Pontianak.

Meanwhile the second UNICA terraforming project on the surface of Omaha has been progressing slowly but steadily. The three colonial settlements on Omaha (Bucharest, Rabat and Tallinn) are built high up in some of the only elevated areas on the planet, above the altitude that most flora can grow and where the planet-covering microbes now called 'Caligolyticus' is least prominent.
Caligolyticus is driven by a hive-mind-like consciousness that is extremely hostile to all other sentient life (even machines that have gained sentience ala SovMechs). It appears to possess some inate ability to process the thoughts of other life and project illusions and mirages based on the fears of said life, using the fog it produces to disorientate, ward off or even induce insanity or suicide in other life.
Considering skeletal remains of other lifeforms have now been found beneath the surface of Omaha scientists have come to the conclusion that Caligolyticus either evolved very quickly, wiping out all competing life or is in fact an alien species that crashed onto the planet via an asteroid.
Either way, UNICA teams are now working their way across the surface of the huge planet, operating out of special mobile bases to keep them safe at night when Caligolyticus produces the fog. And in the day they march across the great plains of Omaha with flamethrowers and chemical burners in hand, cleansing the planet of the microscopic life.

__________________________________________________________________________

The UNN arrives in the Sceptrum system to find the NAF forces had fallen back before it's arrival, a single corvette and a handful of transport ships were still present however and are captured as POWs, and then the fleet moves on to Beid - the second major New American fortress at the other end of their defensive line on the border.

__________________________________________________________________________

In the Epsilon Indi system (a few dozen lightyears north of 61 Cygni) another valuable source of alloys is located and a joint UNICA-Standard Dynamics-United Mining project is undertaken to build a planetary-habitat on the surface of a molten world. However as the construction crew and their ships approaches the surface of Epsilon Indi IIc a burst of energy destroys all the ships, the personnel and all the cargo aboard for building the new habitat.

Initially thought to perhaps be NAF saboteurs, a United Mining Security ship investigates the site and instead finds there to be an ancient alien structure orbiting the planet that had somehow been missed upon initial surveying of the planet almost a century ago. The information is handed over to StellarX so one of their science vessels can come to investigate this structure further.

__________________________________________________________________________

On the Bastion there are some who believe the War Of The Western Frontier is going so well that it is a sure sign that the UN needs to abandon it's "craven drive for peace" and should wholeheartedly embrace achieving its goals through brute force. Ever since the days of the third world war the UN has shunned almost all armed conflict as it was simply too costly to wage open war when espionage and cyber warfare could achieve so much more at such a lower risk. The Martial Supremacy Alliance (Simply just shortened to Mars) begs to differ. Their rhetoric is dangerously close to sounding like that of our NAF enemies.

There were now four major factions on the Bastion, which had varying support and participation from the various corporations of the Bastion and Uppers and Lowers.
Upper Residents Association - making sure the many eclectic and expensive material desires of the Upper residents are fulfilled

Bastion Stock Exchange - Largest stock exchange in the galaxy where trillions of UN-Dollars in stocks and bonds are bought and sold every day.

Research Institute - A semi independent branch of the University of Hanoi concerned with pushing the limits of technological and scientific knowledge.

Martial Supremacy Alliance - Jingoistic pro-war movement founded by a handful StandardDynamics and SinoTec board members and with growing support in the lower sections.

__________________________________________________________________________

In Polaris the Ares Angels continue their assault on the NAF space station, which had only minimal defences, never expecting an attack to come through the Iguo Veil.

By mid-2302 The Beid station has fallen to the UNN without incident and the fleet moves to retake Zaurak.

Which again goes without a hitch, but before the UNN relocates south to halt another NAF counterattack, they are given a special assignment. To exterminate one of the Space Amoeba herds that has been hindering UN construction crews in the frontier.

With the capable cruisers now at the UN's disposal the battle against the three huge spaceborne aliens goes remarkably well compared to all previous engagements with the Space Amoeba. The small amoeba that the 'mothers' spawn are quickly dispatched by the huge array of point-defence systems on the cruisers which in turn are able to put out far greater firepower than the corvettes or destroyers could. The herd is culled without a single human casualty.

__________________________________________________________________________

The UN Brigandine continues it's westward journey, reaching beyond the limits of UN controlled areas of the Western Frontier, through the systems of New Kazan and close to the new British capital - or at very least it's largest supply planet for 'The Fleet' on Thames. On the edge of the Victorious Night nebula the Brigandine enters the Ardageoneto system to find three Earth-likes. The security council is now a little less hell-bent on locating Earth-likes, now that UNICA terraforming projects prove successful, ignoring the fact a war with New America broke out over just such a system.
It is located right between New Kazan and the Admiralty both of whom are beholden to the whims of New Delhi - which it seems is granting the system to the Russians, infuriating the British to no end who are becoming openly antagonistic to their Indian overlords - the British have already refused to relocate The Fleet eastward to assist in the war against the Union of Socialist Systems, claiming that keeping the Victorious Night secure is of far greater important.

And at the other end of known space, deep inside the Voiceless Nightmare nebula, the UN Rainbow has been working at decrypting German communications, discovering a number of new radio sources that The Order had previously refused to divulge their knowledge of to the UN.

The UN Rainbow also intercepts a bizarre and possibly troubling communication between a number of Astropom ships deep inside the nebula. Astropom - the Russian diaspora state based out of the great Vladivostok orbital shipyards and part of the United African Empire has the past decade been conducting extensive expeditions into the Voice Nightmare, even settling the Syasumurgue system right at the heart of the nebula and going to great and difficult lengths to construct two new space habitats there by name of Sochi and Kaliningrad (of which the heart of the Voiceless Nightmare is becoming known as).

Communications through and within each of the three great nebulas that the UN has encountered thus far are very strained, but from what can be deciphered from the garbled Russian transmissions is the word 'prizma' being repeated over and over.

__________________________________________________________________________

Somewhere far to the east, beyond China, and the New Shire of the Zunguatese, contact is made with another human state, one that seems to have broken free from the Patria Grande early on and retain their stateless (or state-lite) society (with the exception of maintaining defence force that acts as both its military and police) but not in the interest of common good but for individual gain, a ceaseless race to the bottom to out compete and backstab each other. They have only just managed to regain space flight after almost a century of being planet-bound, they do not seem very receptive.

And on the opposite side of the galaxy, as the Brigandine skirts the edge of British space, it picks up radio signals from within the Victorious Night - of a group calling themselves the Victorious Night. A rogue PMC turned to piratry.

"Watch yourselves, Blue, ships have a nasty habit of getting lost out here in the Victorious Night, be a real shame if some of those fine UN vessels disappeared and were never heard from again."

__________________________________________________________________________

The "Offensive of 2305" began on January 18th, with the New American Federation making a major push to recapture their frontline on the Orion Arm with fleets engaging every station at once. Regulus vessels being repaired in Mirach were overwhelmed and are trying their best to stay alive, hiding in the huge rings of Mirach III. Curiously there is also a convoy of freighters present in the system, that bypass the fighting and continue onward towards the Alioth system.

The UNN moves quickly along the UN side of the front-line, opting to focus on retaining Mirach and let the other points fall back into New American hands if need be, the large fortress was a priority - as was saving the Regulus ships.

Unfortunately by the time the United Nations Navy enters Mirach and the fast moving corvettes with a few destroyers are sent ahead to scout the rings of Mirachi II they discover only wrecks, no but no sign of any Regulus survivors though they put up a noble last stand.

The cruisers catch up and from Mirachi II they launch an attack on the Auxiliary Fleet of America currently besieging their former fortress near the huge red star.

__________________________________________________________________________

The UN-Septime ventured back through the systems of the United African Empire and to the stars of the Galactic Core - which contrary to previous belief was not dense with stars but more a vast nebula, many thousands of lightyears wide with very few actual stars and planets present. One such system was Kuroji, just one hyperlane jump away from the very heart of the Milk Way itself - Sagittarius A*.

Kuroji is the closest known planets to Sagittarius A* that can also sustain life.

The UN-Septime approaches Kuroji IV which appears to have once been a planet-scale city, though the fact that only a miniscule portion of it has any lights shining from it's unlit side leads the crew of the Septime to belive this is an ancient world and it's current inhabitants found and settled this planet.

The Septime only manages to establish communication with the people on the surface for a minute or two before a swarm of fighters fly up from the surface of Kuroji IV. The UN science vessel is destroyed, but manages to send out a last ditch message back to The Bastion about what they have found.

__________________________________________________________________________

On December 15th 2306, the last strain of Caligolyticus was confirmed to be eradicated from the surface of Omaha and it is now deemed a safe planet for settling. It is an even more bountiful and practical world than Pontianak, it's vast open plains are perfect for ranches and crop fields that have been reintroduced first on Pontianak but would be even more suited here.

There are also areas of great beauty on the planet and a number of huge areas for parks and gardens are set up. Just as on Pontianak a decade of celebrations are devised by UNICA to help draw in more settlers from the Bastion - which now with it's mere 7.5 billion people is beginning to feel a little more roomy.

__________________________________________________________________________

The NAF freighters cross from Mirach into the Alioth system where they are apprehended at once by a large squadron of fighters dispatched from Alioth station. The captain of the lead freighter's dialect is unique and somewhat grating to the ears, a broken unusual form of English - it should have been obvious why, considering the words Grammich Haulage Corporation were in huge letters across all the ships (no one inside the UN had ever seen one beyond photos, and knowledge of their existence is hardly high priority). The Beckoning Fall, Sublime Henge and Konnet's Core are brought back to Alioth station and dock at the fortress, the station's garrison gathered in the docks, guns trained on the ships but the hatch to the large freighter opens and no human steps out, but a towering lithoid alien, a Grammich.
"I am Captain Strintock. And I seek amnesty within the Yoonited Nations."

Within the Alioth Station briefing room, the UN commander and captain of the Beckoning Fall convene.

"My name is Brigadier Sebastian Fontaine, Standard Dynamics military arm, commander of Alioth Station. You will have to forgive me if some of our enquiries may seem a little rudimentary. This is the first time any UN citizens and an actual alien species have met face to face."

"Ask. And I will give answers"

"You are called the Grammich?"

"A name given to us by the Nuu Americans. By the first Hue-man to find us, a one Doctor Joshua Grammich. If you wish to know our true name then it is [sound of rocks scraping together]"

"I'm not sure human vocal chords can make that sound."

"Then 'Grammich' we will remain."

"You come from New Washington?"

The alien paused for a lengthy amount of time before nodding slowly "That is what our home is now. Yes"

"Did the New Americans enslave your race?"

"No." Strinnock shook it’s head "Not slaves. Not, exactly. We are people of the second rate... the second class? They treat Grammich well, if we do as they say" "The Grammich had suffered a terrible war and for three hundred years we languished in the ruins of our world. When the great black obelisks descended from the heavens we thought salvation was at hand, but instead some fragile creatures emerged from within - Hue-man. Nuu American."

"Was there any resistance? How did the Grammich come to be part of the NAF?"

"The Nuu Americans did more damage to our people than any weapon of war could achieve - they have infected the minds and hearts do you call it?, of our people. The Nuu American speak much of the Yellowstone, they compare it to the war that ruined the home of the Grammich, made our people believe that we and they are one and the same, that together we may rebuild all that we have lost. Many Grammich blindly follow the Nuu American, gladly do what they are told without thinking of the why and who is giving the order. They all wave the flag of the stripes and eagle, they all pray to The God and his child on the cross, and when the time comes they would happily fight and die at the side of Nuu American warriors for unjust causes."

"Have you encountered any other intelligent life beyond the New Americans - well, beyond humanity"

"No. Nuu American is first. No Grammich had ever left our world before. I will, be blunt, I had wanted my people - of the three craft here - to reach the lands of the Sin-Dees, but I know you and they are much like you and the Nuu American. And you have worlds here, in Yoo-En space, many, that a Grammich could call home - should you accept us."

"Like where? And such a decision would not be down to me alone, this is entirely unprecedented, it will all have to go up to the Security Council itself."

"Alpha Centauri Four. Fee-Nix? Dry, and hot, and dusty, with no moisture. Ah, heaven. [sound of rocks clacking that could vaguely be described as chuckling]. We could even make it more viable for hue-man habitability over time. Grammich can survive in the same worlds as you, but... moss, and erosion is such an inconvenience."

"And, what if, by some chance this is a ploy by the NAF, and you are here under malicious ulterior motives? How can we trust you?"

"Brig-ah-dear Fon-Teign. If Nuu America had wanted to conduct a clandestine action they would not have sent an eight foot tall being made of rock, piloting a craft it can barely understand, with a cargo hold full of the desperate and vulnerable.

__________________________________________________________________________

After an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council a consensus is reached that the Grammich refugees shall be permitted to settle on Phoenix. For the time being though they will remain under heavy surveillance and not permitted to relocate from the planet until they have been deemed safe. UNICA is permitted to grant them material aid for the new settlement only if it has spare from ongoing terraforming projects. Asked if they wished to choose their own name for Alpha Centauri IV, Captain Strinnock opted to retain 'Phoenix', aware of the name's meaning and thinking it appropriate for the place where Grammich may rebuild proper from the ashes of their ruined civilisation - outside of NAF control.

__________________________________________________________________________

August 20th 2307, the Auxiliary Fleet of America is repelled from the Mirach system, a handful of their vessels destroyed outright, even less captured - but most retreated south once again.

However the UNN only has a few days to resupply at the heavily damaged Mirach Station which has now endured two sieges, as reports come in of a NAF radiding fleet that has bypassed the Westgate by going through the Iguo Veil just as the Ares Angels had done, it is likely not powerful enough to capture any stations but could deal considerable harm to mining vessels in the system.

Fortunately the Mizar station alone is about to hold out against the NAF raid which retreats back into the Veil after taking losses.

The UNN turns around and heads back for the border instead, this time with the goal of pushing beyond the captured NAF defences and deeper into New American space.

Meanwhile the Ares Angels have been joined by ships of the Sovereign Mechanized Defence Force, the defences of Polaris have fallen and now they prepare to land on the surface of New Salt Lake City. Polaris I is a vast barren world, it's cities lay beneath the surface and the Regulus ships' attempt at bombardment have so far proven futile. But now with the SovMech ships present they have a large enough force to blockade the planet and stop NAF mineral and alloy haulers getting off the planet. There are just about one billion people living on Polaris I, almost all of it's food is imported from New Colorado, there is only so long they can hold out before needing to surrender to our allies.

__________________________________________________________________________

UNICA begins terraforming the planet Lagos proper. A decade of SovMech 'wildlife management' operations has culled enough of the titanic predator population that a sizable settlement has been allowed to develop. Following UNICA's successes and the new wealth Pontianak and Omaha have brought to the Bastion, a special colonial-cruiser was granted to the administration which acts as the field headquarters of UNICA and houses an array of equipment and tools for terraforming.

Cardiff, the first colony of the UN, it seems will not be able to enjoy the benefits of terraforming any time soon - it's main problem is the mass of the planet, and there is no known way to reduce that short of just ripping chunks of the planet out. While the people of Pontianak, Omah and soon Lagos all enjoy their new found worlds, the Cardiffians remain stuck living in powered exo-skeletons and breathing air that their lungs struggle to process. Despite this there are even some on Cardiff who now claim that UNICA has ruined the planets it terraformed, interfering with the natural order, or something to that effect.

It is soon discovered that Patria Grande has been broadcasting propaganda to the colonies on UN channels that were believed to be decrypted.

Either through carelessness or intentionally leaking sensitive information, a major branch of the UN's communications offices in Deuxième-Versailles have allowed the anarchists access to secure UN communication channels. The entire office is fired at once pending further investigation.

__________________________________________________________________________

The Research Institute continues to make great strides and passes on the gains it has made to t he Security Council to improve areas of the Bastion specifically. While Blaine's new designs for space-drydocks are put into practice and new construction projects begin across all the major stations in UN space along with additional solar arrays to power them.

The UN-Rainbow pushes through the Voiceless Nightmare nebula and is greeted with an array of various communication channels bouncing messages back and forth in all directions and between all manner of peoples.

Commander Victoria Conroy picks one of the many signals at random and taps the Rainbow's comms in to it. At once the a huge gold symbol of four-intersecting gold rings popped up on the main monitor the words Nusantara Republic above and Centaurus Conference beneath

You have reached the Nusantara Republic ministry of foreign relations.
If you are a Zunguatese refugee seeking asylum please press 1.
If you are a representative or associate of Aegis please press 2 to be forwarded to the diplomatic corps of CENCON.
If you are a USO citizen seeking to emigrate to Nusantara please press 3 to be forwarded to the department of immigration.
If you are an alien species and this is our first contact please press 4.
If you..

Commander Conroy glanced to her crew on the bridge of the Rainbow and with a furrow of her brow pressed four on her keypad beside her commander's chair monitor. The logo was replaced with a human woman with a phone-headset on and sat at a desk, dozens of identical desks behind, filled with people taking calls.
"Ministry of foreign relations. First contact department, please state your species name and-" the woman had been looking down at the papers on her desk until now and looked up to see humans staring back through her screen.
"Human?" Conroy answered a little perplexed
"Hm. I see. Please hold" The Nusantaran bureaucratic responded, her eyes obviously catching the giant United Nations brand on the wall behind commander conroy.

The UN-Rainbow's huge canopy-sized monitor reverted to the Nusantara emblem again, before going black for a split second and replaced with a dazzling blue flag with the stars that make up the Crux / Southern Cross present.

There was a brief moment of a handheld-terminal's viewpoint showing the ground and a pair of legs as someone quickly walked through a crowd, all that was visible was more pairs of legs, and many voices and loud music. There was indiscriminate talking before the terminal was brought up and put in the hands of an avian looking alien dressed in a suit.
"Prime Minister Dluuret. Is there a reason you're interrupting my little shindig" The white-feathered four-eyed bird paused, seeing just who it was he was speaking to, a look of surprise and joy on his face "Well I'll be stuffed! it's the Unies, took your sweet time popping around to pay us a visit, hah, no worries though I hear yous been having an interesting ole time down there beyond The Nightmare" The prime minister took the handheld terminal, a glass of champagne visible in his other hand as he quickly secluded himself in a side-office away from the crowd.

"I'm afraid I'm entertaining guests from the Revolutionary Solar Empire (which is quite frankly, not all that revolutionary, not in occupation of Sol nor is it an empire - but don't tell the ambassador I said that), so I can't talk for long but pen over the details of the home system of wherever it is you Unies call home now and I'll get right to talking to the Secretary-General was it? -later in the arvo. Agh, I should give you the spiel shouldn't I? The United Systems of Oceania covers almost twenty worlds, with four major major species and countless minority species. We are the founder of the Centaurus Conference that seeks to unite and uplift all the peoples beyond the Voiceless Nightmare nebula, and uphold the virtues of liberty, equality blah blah blah you get the picture I'm sure.
Oh, I'm a Khabayyanid by the way - a century ago my people lived in jungle-top treehouses, hunting krizbugs and chucking rocks at one another - Then a bunch of hairless apes fell from the sky gave us medicine, electricity and the joys of mass media. And now here I am democratically elected ruler of an intergalactic federation, wild eh?"

Lisirrasya system with it's three stars and fifteen planets.

"Unie vessels are free to come and go as they please in Cen-Con space, just don't go being a galah and we'll have no drama. By the way you should make sure to come stop by The Great Blue and see ‘Federation’ for yourself, capital of all that's great. Hah. Well, I've kept the RSE chaps long enough. Been a pleasure Unie, ta!"

"Federation". Capital of the USO and the headquarters of Centaurus Conference (CENCON) / "The CC"

__________________________________________________________________________

As the UN-Rainbow progresses into USO space it deciphers two more of the signals, discovering two new powers closer to the galactic core, they are both less than agreeable.

"This is the Free Parliament. We do not prostrate ourselves before the humans of Oceania like our deluded brothers and sisters. Nor will we make any attempt to befriend you, UN. We know you, we know what you do. Long live the Union of Socialist Systems!"

"More Humans? Too many humans! Stay out of our space or we'll kill you all! Mess with the clans and you get the tusks!"

__________________________________________________________________________

October 1st 2309, the UNN along with the 2nd Regulus fleet "The Zosma Brigade" have passed through the frontlines of both the UN and NAF, to find the interior is incredibly undefended. New American mining and commercial vessels flee the Subra system, never expecting our ships to reach this far. Subra station meanwhile doesn't even have any defences, the UNN fleet simply parks up next to it and the station crew hail Admiral Beauflower at once declaring they surrender. Not just Subra Station that is. The New American Federation has conceded.

New Salt Lake City had fallen. SovMech soldiers, having no need for food or air simply landed on the safer far side of Polaris I and marched for a year until they got to the planetary defences and assaulted them from the ground. They breached the entrances to the underground settlements of NSLC, opening the way for the Ares Angels to land and the two forces began the intense close-quarters conflict within NSLC soldiers and citizens that lasted all of 2308 and 2309. The defence finally fell around the same time as the UNN entered Subra.
The frontline along the Western Frontier had completely collapsed, the Offense of 2305 to retake it had failed. The UNN was now within core NAF territory. And worst of all a billion New Americans were now under occupation by two UN states on New Salt Lake City.

On the Mirach Station - once proudest fortress of the New American frontline, admirals of the UNN, Regulus and SovMech navies meet with representatives of the NAF.
New America's prestige and sense of national pride which they held so highly has been dealt a severe blow.
There is major unrest across New Colorado, New Houston and Virginia, as bad if not worse than the Summer of Fury back in '69 on The Bastion.
And so the NAF cannot remain committed to this war effort or try to keep hold of their Orion Bridge.

The NAF envoy concedes to all the UN demands -
The NAF systems in the Orion Army all currently under UN occupation will be ceded to the United Nations, the crews and inhabitants given one year to relocate out or forcibly become citizens of the UN. The Jorarnrir system is left for UN colonization and the NAF will make no further attempts to aggressively gain access to the Orion Arm and inner systems.

After twenty five years the War of the Western Frontier is finally over.
There is a month of celebration announced on The Bastion, Pontianak and Omaha. (and there will be another, when the UNN returns to the Bastion for major repairs and upgrades).
Considering the success of the conflict and the UN's primary antagonist knocked out for quite some time - and it's second largest antagonist embroiled in a war with the Indians - the UN's period of isolation is considered over.

The precarious situation it found itself in thirty years ago is far from the one it is now, with multiple worlds, multiple nations under it's control, with multiple colonization efforts underway and high relations with Regulus and SovMech.

What's more the Western Frontier now extends all the way up to the Victorious Night, as soon as the annoying Space Amoeba are dealt with and the gaps filled in, the UN will be at the maximum extent the Security Council advises the UNSG to commit the UN to. By having access to the Victorious Night nebula, an area that is hard for any one power to hold down, the UN should always have an open gateway to the galaxy beyond.

We'll start,

with a bear.

You know, I thought the Americans might be a problem but instead they've handed us Great(er) Power status, it seems.

Did New India have a rough couple decades? They were top 5 in the last power ranking.

They went to war with the socialists and seem to be getting hammered, that might explain it.

These are great. I literally drop what I'm doing when I see there's an update. Can't wait for more (at a reasonable pace that does not lead to burn out)!

UN looking kinda thicc ngl, it was really nice of most of our neighboring powers to be huge shitstains that make the Corpo-oligarchy look benevolent and sane in comparison

There shouldn't be any need to expand any further now, considering all the resources and worlds at the UN's disposal. Getting to one of the nebulas was a very high priority as with the Wild Space mod they can't be colonized and are open to everyone. So if I had a border with one I could still send ships in to go off in any random direction to still interact with and get into shenanigans with other powers.

They're at war with 3 other states, and New Kazan and the British are only providing some resources, though they are both unloyal to New India as well.

A tidally-locked world, one side is a perpetual boiling hurricane, the other a frozen hellscape that has never seen light.
And right in the middle sits the Khabayyanid break-away state.

I absolutely love that the Aviaustralian told us not to be a galah.

Also, let's invite the not-evil Brazilians to shelter under our broad shoulders.

Also, probably the Liberal Democracies, I guess. As long as they Incorporate into proper Corporations like a proper Corpro-state.

The Brits are almost there already save for the Admirality part. Their Quartermaster-General would probably fit in with the COOs and such.

The tech advantage did a lot for us. Arguably, Columbia should be way ahead of us given that they should've gotten ahead from salvaging the old alien tech, but who knows. Obviously everyone got buffed from the OP but it seems it wasn't enough for the NAF for the war.

If I had to guess the buff came too late for the NAF. By the time they got new techs their resource production was being harassed and destroyed. And its not like a tech boost automatically retrofits their existing fleet

We might have reached the limit of our territorial expansion, but there are other... subtler... spheres where we have plenty of room to expand.

I am curious what kind of buffs were made. If it's something more directed towards certain techs, or something generalized

Obviously we need to form the Combine Honnete Uber Diaspora, to manage the financial and state-capacity needs of far flung humanity. That includes, naturally, non-human persons such as the SovMech and Grammich, but most importantly includes Corporate persons.

The security directorate, our CHUD-S, will be a welcome sight across the Milky Way.

Hi! Sorry, Jonathan Ford, Kawasaki-Ford Heavy Industry. No relation. The trouble with getting rid of the name is brand equity. The UN has centuries invested in a recognizable brand. You do realize that a four eyed alien bird immediately knew exactly who they were talking to the moment they saw our sky-blue helmets? You can't buy that kind of recognition, you can only build it. To throw that away would require a massive and potentially disastrous pr campaign. We all remember New Coke, right?

Did the Hudson's Bay Company change their name when they stopped paying fur trappers in Canada? Did Ford change our name when the last true Ford descendent died? Did Cadillac? Brands are valuable, my colleagues. In fact, I'd go so far as to say brands are value. For what are we if not our reputation?

E: ok obviously we are still a coalition of businesses with more money than God, but I was making a point

I agree that brand recognition is important. When the merger that formed Deep Dish Fuckfest Food and Adult Products Incorporated went through, many naysayers were calling for a corporate rebranding. I fired 'em all! And we're still here decades later while those dummies probably ended up somewhere in the Bastion's basement.
