Here, have a panorama of half of it (I forgot had that...): I do want something nicer, though, hence the interest in the displays. In all seriousness, she is very tolerant of my bullshit. It helps that I save us a lot of money by fixing poo poo and keeping cheap used cars operable.

I asked, and his dad did it as an anger thing at the ones on Etsy that only hold 30-40. He basically said "measure how many rows you need and trim the outside divider moulding to singles, and go from there, build a box around them. Then get your outside walls all straight and run a router around to put in the plexi. Then do the top with a router and good luck."

Chrome's translate feature gets it absolutely right here: "Mazda's dream of such a car was overflowing with the rotary engine, which smoothly and vigorously rotates so that it penetrates forever as the accelerator pedal is depressed."

Almost certainly does not have a WRX motor under the bonnet. But there's an intercooler lurking so my guess is the I4 it has stock isnt exactly OEM anymore...

Yeah yaris rocks. I love the fact that my only gripe with a car is the shade of the roof tint. If it were gloss black as bumper inserts it would be a 100/100.

Just a homologated 4wd rally ripper with custom bodywork and stuff is so much better and more interesting than a farty German box to me I hope more companies make weird stuff. I know 6 guys who have Yaris’ already. They’re apparently that good haha

um excuse me posted:Are we talking Europe? There is a looooong list of cars I'd rather have for that price before a golf in the US A Golf R is nearly £10k more in the UK. That's how bargainous this Yaris is. I can't think of a very long list of cars priced around $30k that are anywhere close to as interesting as the Yaris GR.

It's important to note that the GR Yaris has very little to do with the standard Yaris outside of a few small things like wing mirrors and interior fittings. It's made on a totally separate line, like the Focus RS vs Normal focus. For 30k pounds, they cannot be making money. It was initially sold here in Oz for a ridiculous 39990 +orc, but they ran out in minutes. They are now $55 drive away for the standard, and about $60k drive away for the Rallye. For what they are, they are genuinely cheap. Golf's are boring and absolutely everywhere, but you can get 5 doors I guess?

A tremendous bargain (esp for those who got in early) that Toyota is probably losing a pile of money on each car. It’s almost completely handbuilt, in the facility that built the LFA. It’s stunning that this ever got close to being green lit, but for halo car purposes (both for consumers and giving Toyota engineers some inspiration) it’s probably worth the money they’re burning. http://toyotagazooracing.com/gr/yaris/factory/index.html

Kinda wild what Harry said in that video, that they aren't even built on a line. They're assembled in a cell. Like if you've been to the Rolls Royce factory and seen them assembling a Phantom, it just sits there on a jig and stuff gets brought to it and installed by hand. And they built 25000 of them like that.

Man, I genuinely keep forgetting how absolutely batshit insane the GR Yaris is. Toyota is such a weird (in a godo way) company sometimes.
