One recent evening, Younghusband lit a fire under about 130 hay bales that had been destroyed by mice and stood back to watch, beer in hand, as flames lit up the night sky. He estimates he has lost about 1,500 bales so far.

The UK's killed a poo poo ton of people like the US but their rollout has been pretty successful for similar reasons. Oh yeah nah, my bad. Read that as 'they'. We have 100% cocked up our rollout. Like even now with this Delta strain, they should be doing a massive community push to ramp up vaccinations - but nothing as of yet. I have a friend who was supposed to be flying from Melbourne to Brisbane today. She's currently stuck at Sydney airport and has no idea whether she'll be allowed to continue to Brisbane. Another friend from Melbourne is due to visit Sydney next week. Anything could happen between now and then.

I messaged my daughter earlier to tell her that masks are compulsory on public transport for the next five days. She works in the CBD and doesn't keep up with the news. I just got a "what for this time" call from her while she was walking to Central. Lucky as we've been, I think people are getting pretty jaded.

Supposed to go to Sydney next weekend to see my nephew and a friend who lost her dad a week ago a few days before she could get out of hotel quarantine. If this fucks that up it’s just further evidence that Sydney is a wasteland that should be bulldozed off the continental shelf.

Some train cars were like 50/50 My favourite bit with the trains recently was someone's loving genius idea at Metro Trains to route the Southern lines (the busiest lines in the state) via bus from one of the Eastern line stations during a crossing works weekend, instead of direct from Flinders St like literally every prior time. While Supanova was running at the Showgrounds, no less. If someone had been COVID-positive on those days they'd only have exposed half the state to it instead of the southern suburbs. Sterling mitigation efforts there!

Feeling like a complete oval office on the train because I forgot to grab a mask on the way out of the house as I was in a bit of a rush.
