The fact the algorithm recommended it to me, makes we worry about what I click on,
and what other people are clicking on.

the algorithms are very complicated in how they're put together but the effects are usually very straightforward, because all the fancy AI stuff works by demonstrating what the intended effects are. and all these stupid internet sites just want you to click things because that's a hard, trackable metric that looks good on a graph. so the algorithm probably recommended whatever it was because it thought, absent any other concern, that you'd click it.

In a lot of fiction there are secret kings,

the hobbit has one with Bard the Bowman.
King Author, Jesus, Hercules, and other greek characters

what are you talking about, all these characters spent a good portion of their lives learning and practicing poo poo and except for Jesus all had setbacks/failures or earned their poo poo on merit, it’s not in any way comparable to Potter and quidditch. I mean Bard the bowman’s name is Bard the bowman and he was captain of archers he didn’t just pick up a bow for the first time and happen to kill Smaug

The problem with royal lineages (irl or fantasy) isn't the capabilities or skills or "likability" or experiences of the individual persons, but the unjust power and violence inherent to the system

"Secret king" were poorly chosen words.

Characters who were born special, and are better then everybody else.
I think it's more like a scale. Harry Potter is way more on the side of "he's just good at everything."

(Worked Really Hard ----------------Just Naturally Good)

Only Bard could kill smug because he was a king. A normal archer couldn't do that action.

Hercules has trails, and at the end, over-comes everything by being a god.
He was born a demi-god
He started off better than everybody from birth, as a baby in a crib he strangled a snake.
If he wasn't special he wouldn't have had the challenges at all, and then made greater by challenges.

King Author I'm sort of vague on.
I listened to Malory, Thomas - Le Morte D'Arthur Volume 1
It was a brain numbing amount of endless of slewing / killing.

For Jesus, in its most extreme "good at everything," the suffering and dying was part of the plan to win in the end.

it's also pretty clearly ex post facto inserted into the narrative of his life that he knew he was going to die. he pretty clearly wanted to lead an actual, on earth revolt against the romans (like a bunch of other messianic figures at the same time did) and when he had that big, final, uh setback, there was a whole lot of "no wait it is actually a good thing that our savior died in an exceptionally brutal and public way"

I thought Jesus was more about creating a separate community away from the Romans and traditional Jewish authorities. The people who kept the Dead Sea Scrolls were pretty much doing that at the same time.

It's a matter of interpretation, but I can personally see an evolution from Mark through Luke and Matthew and into John where he starts being real up in everyone's face and it shifts towards inner pursuits by the end. Essentially going from "sell your cloak and buy a sword" to "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's" as a matter of emphasis.

Jesus, whatever your opinions about his historicity, was explicitly within biblical text challenging Roman authority. A critical reading of the text makes it clear that he was definitely going for his heavenly kingdom on earth. Or, at a minimum, his followers believed that and he was content to let them believe that.

And that's clearly what his followers believed as well. Look at Paul's letters. One of the first things he has to assure a congregation about is that the Kingdom of God is still coming, even though Jesus died. They all expected him to usher in an earthly Kingdom of God, and it's only in the aftermath of the crucifixion that they shifted to "what Jesus actually meant..."

Some of that assumes a certain writing order that is by no means academically settled either, so don't take what I'm saying as anything more than my dumbass opinion.

if Jesus’ followers believed he was supposed to lead a revolt they wouldn’t have let a few centurions punk them in the garden or the house of the high priest. not to mention he denies it in Mark

Once upon a time in Hollywood is tarantinos worst and most pretentious piece of poo poo film by far.

It's a reactionary borderline fascist revenge fantasy on the generation he views as "ruining" Hollywood in a transparent attempt to win the Oscars. Also its incredibly dull and just plain poo poo.

what I found more weird about it is that it's a movie about how tarantino's imaginary friends would totes save sharon tate from being murdered and be pals with her and hang out

like it's one thing to fantasize about killing hitler, but this is just hosed up. and of course in this imaginary world where she survives there's an unnecessarily long scene displaying her feet, like cmon dude

okay so it should be know that while popularly Gene LeBell is known to have choked out Steven Seagal until he shat himself, while Gene in his recounting will often not include the making GBS threads part out of politeness

Now the Bruce Lee fight is based on an experience on set of Green Hornet involving Gene LeBell and Bruce Lee

According to even Lebell’s probably conservative account, Tarantino let the image of Bruce Lee off lightly, because it’s frankly embarrassing for Lee

lawl:

quote:

On the other hand, when Seagal was asked about the incident, he directly denied the allegations, calling LeBell a "sick, pathological scumbag liar," and offered the name of a witness who could prove Lebell had fabricated this rumor.[22] The claim garnered a heated response from LeBell's trainee Ronda Rousey, who assured Seagal was the one lying and said: "If [Seagal] says anything bad about Gene to my face, I'd have to make him crap his pants a second time."[23]

she'd do it too

Even inglorious bastards is boring. I fell asleep half way through and have had no desire to ever finish it. On paper it has everything you'd think you want to watch in a movie but it just felt pornographic to me.

All the chuddest people I knew in college loved inglorious bastards because ultimately it's a shallow film that elevates piety, revenge obsessed individuals.

And that makes sense to me since fascist readily cannibalize their own.
