"When I was a girl, around 12 or 13, I had a fantasy that I'd grow up to marry Captain Scarlet, but he'd be busy fighting the Mysterons so I'd cuckold him with the sexiest people I could think of - Nigel Mansell, Pat Sharp and Mr. Blobby."

Hard to see who'll make that argument to be honest. Starmer supporters have committed to saying you're a racist or a bigot to vote Galloway so they won't really want to claim those votes back.

Kim Leadbeater is going to be a rubbish MP but I’m kinda glad she won’t have to read a month of articles about how she made a Guardian writer’s heart think of a free Palestine and die. Instead we should be good for another round of the Starmzy Relaunches which are always good honest fun

Yeah, if he'd lost it would've bought things to a head and there'd at least be the chance of a coherent change of direction. Now in all likelihood he's going to limp on as leader into the next election, which Labour will lose, badly.

What's the timeline here, did they barely hold on to a seat Corbyn won convincingly from the Tories and they're celebrating that as some incredible proof of the popularity of their "we will have a platform by this time next year" platform or am I misreading it?

I can say though that it should be more newsworthy that the takeaway seems to be "thank god, this proves we can ditch any appeals to those Jew hating Muslims!" but well, the press probably agrees

labour have held it for ages. corbyn brought back a huge majority in 2017 and a lessened but around the same as before 2017 majority in 2019. this time they kept it by 323 votes

important to note that the greens pulled out of this seat 3 weeks ago so had they remained in labour might well have lost convincingly

Lol that's even worse then, but celebrating the confirmation of a deteriorating orbit before the ship starts burning up is a lot more business as usual at least for pretend opposition parties

You barley won by less the 500 votes and has a party lead by a guy from out of the constituency probably take over twenty percent of the vote most of which would have abstained or voted Tory. Yeah a real victory Keith. Really I would if I was Johnson start considering maybe actually either just stop pretending I have an ideological project that’s unique from Thatcherism or actually embrace the idea I do and began a purge of the party.
