Are the pedos that try to legitimize their behavior by conflating it with LGBT issues also a purely right wing plant? Because I could see that going either way; bigots that try to delegitimize LGBT groups or people that genuinely think there's nothing unnatural with perving on toddlers and try to appropriate other inclusive groups in the process. Which kind of supports a hypothesis I have : People that do bad and unethical things will rationalize the gently caress out of it; parents that beat their children often genuinely believe what they are doing is perfectly normal. They aren't doing it while feeling incredibly guilty in the process, they are putting together a narrative that makes them the reasonable person in that situation. When they get ostracized for what they are doing they will project and act like it's other people that are backwards and intolerant for disagreeing. A sexual predator has a huge incentive to rationalize their behavior this way. If they can find the tiniest toe hold of legitimacy of their behavior they would gladly take it. Another challenge with subcultures is maintaining control of the narrative. Maybe adults that like My Little Pony are not in of themselves weird or gross, but the loudest and dominant members of the community happen to be unapologetic sex pests, zoophiles, whatever. The sane members could insist "we aren't all like that" but it's a tough claim to make when their moderators and community organizers are fitting the stereotypes. You can't exactly say that it's a right wing plant at that point, the proof is right there.
