Mopsy, I'm starting to question your medical credentials.

Miscellaneous office supply reviews:

These cherry blossom paperclips work okay, but the top petal tends to get caught up in the paper so it doesn't look as good, and it doesn't work for large amounts of paper. Still, cute as hell.

I bought the pink ones of these sticky notes and they are so loving stupid. I knew they would be when I bought them and did not let that stop me. Because of the gilding you can't actually write on most of them. But, god. They look so loving cool. I don't even care. I love these stupid things.

You can see the translucency of these Sumikko Gurashi stickers in the pictures, but it does not convey how weird the frosted glass texture of them is. It also makes the stickers very difficult to remove from the sheet. The weird part is that the washi tape isn't true washi tape. Instead it's just sticker tape, with the same clear backing on it as the stickers. You have to use scissors to cut it, and they stick to things in earnest, without the easy removal of true washi tape. Still cute for my planner and whatnot, I just can't keep them in my washi dispenser or use them to stick my non-sticky memo sheets to anything.

For some reason I thought my letter-sized file cabinet at work would be forgiving enough to accommodate an A4 plastic folder. I was wrong so I'm glad I only bought one. Someone make this loving thing in bullshit American sizes.

I thought this would be cute to mark the days on my paper calendar but the edges of the stickers lift like crazy. It's almost like a roll isn't the best method of storage for a discrete sticker that will eventually need to lay flat?? Wild. No one could have predicted this (I don't know why I didn't predict this).

You are going to have to take my word for it that when I bought these in February the listing I used did not say 'no stickiness'. It said, instead, 'stickers'. They are not stickers. I keep meaning to glue them into my planner or something but then I don't. My partner has also made a few sticker purchases that were actually just #aesthetic sheets of paper suitable for scrapbooking with, so like, watch out for that I guess. I saw some pictures where they had these little card stacks arranged on some kind of scrabble tile holder as a weird calendar but once you open them they don't stay in stack form, they unfold all over the place and are kind of useless.

Not office supplies:

This isn't the listing I used because I bought it so long ago, but I use this bun maker just about every goddamn day. I love this thing. The only flaw is that you have to get it just the right distance from your head. At the wrong distance, it will either be loose and floppy, or else too tight and give me a headache. Other than that, A+, love this weird hairy slap bracelet.

I wanted my bun to be bigger. What I did not predict was how goddamn impossible it is to make my hair stay wrapped around this thing when I roll it, and how difficult it is to snap it shut. This thing sucks and I never use it.

My thinking at the time was that this would be a lot like my usual bun maker, except with a bow on it, and because there isn't a flat side then I wouldn't have to worry about getting it too tight/not tight enough. I am too stupid to use this loving thing. By the time I was done trying it was so tangled in my hair I thought it might just be stuck there forever. It was loving cartoonish levels of tangled. Once I had freed myself I never tried to use it again. Slap bracelet supremacy.

Oh, man, I ordered a whole other hair doodly that could either be genius or a completely useless piece of poo poo: a fabric rectangle with a slit in the middle that you roll up along your hair and twist together at the top. I have bone-straight hair that actively exits every curl with a practically audible pop, yet I continue to buy poo poo like this in the vain hope that one day, one day I'll find my one true hair doodly. At least it didn't cost anything. It's stateside--just gotta wait for that last-mile carrier.

If you're using them inside a book/planner/anything where there's something to press on them, I think they'd work great. But on a paper calendar hanging on the wall there's nothing, so they just lift half off the page. I tried to take a picture once but in photos it just creates a cool 3d effect, whereas in person it looks like my stickers are going to fall off. I still might buy more of them in the future (especially those mushrooms...) but only as planner decorations since I know those can be pressed down.

I used a felt-tip pen to try to give the stickies the best chance, but it's like trying to write on tinfoil, and I usually just use fountain pens anyway. I'll probably just use the heavily gilded ones as bookmarks, or else I'll stick a blank white sticker on the center to actually write on :haw:

Speaking of Kindles, mine's the first generation paperwhite and I think the battery's starting to go. It still lasts several days per charge but it's come down a long way from the original where it'd last for weeks if not months.

Are any Aliexpress-based eBook readers any good these days? I don't give a rat's arse about Amazon integrations or whatever, I manage my books through Calibre.

Did a quick look on aliexpress and there's a lot of crap, by the time you filter out the LCD TFT screens, 2nd hand items, replacement screens, and so forth you're up in the $80+ region so TBH I'd look on Ebay for 2nd hand or new old stock.

If you do look on Aliexpress Tolino, Kobo, and Boox are real ereader brands, and 1072 x 1448 resolution is 300ppi for a 6" reader.

I am quite happy with my black friday $99 Walmart (Kobo) Clara HD managed through Calibre 4.23 [1]. It handles c.2k ebooks [2] nicely. You can search the book database by keyword, and if you have the right interface/database bits turned on you can actually have your books grouped by series which I'm fairly sure Kindle still doesn't support.

Plus: Same resolution as Paperwhite, better backlight, you can stop it from phoning home, 8gb storage. Battery life is ridiculously good, especially with the wifi turned off.

Minus: Not water resistant. Getting calibre configured right is a bit of an adventure - I'll post my settings if anyone wants (don't have PMs, should upgrade with my covidbux)

Neutral: Microusb charge/data port.

Amazon usually heavily discount the Kindle on BF and Prime days and offer a trade-in program that gives you $x + x% off the price (I'm fairly sure that includes the sale price) if you trade in an older Kindle, even if it doesn't 100% work.

[1] One of my fave plugins (by apprentices alf and harper, deals with fair use obstructions) doesn't work with 5.x (or didn't last time I looked).
[2] A patient hunter can pick up a lot of $1.99 ebooks when they go on sale, and back before publisher pricing you could get some pretty nice deals on the Kobo website and during Amazon promotions.
