Frogstomp was a great collection of b-sides from the mashup Pearl Jam and Nirvana did.

Freakshow was an OK album for Helmet, now I think about it.

My joke on Frogstomp is that it was Pearl Jam trying to cover Badmotorfinger tracks.

This was going to be my suggestion. I and five other Americans liked them back in the day but I wasn't sure how popular they were there since they play a distinctly seppo kind of music.

His answer was Inxs.

Guns In The Sky was a pretty good song. And a few others.

Silverchair was pretty popular in the 90s (as stated) and I think they even played at Woodstock 99.

My friend just randomly messaged me and said "Acdc was a bunch of cunts too, but cooler cunts".

Only 3 new cases for Vic yesterday, and they were all in quarantine already while they were infectious, and they're all traced back to known cases already.

If we are doing Australian more popular overseas than in Australia, the Keith Urban would surely be the gold standard.

They're huge on the OS festival circuit, they were having huge write-ups in Metal Hammer before most Australians had even heard of them.

It always bugs when a local band is goes from complete obscurity to international superstars like that, but without having a nuance of originality.

I am looking at you Jet and Wolfmother.

No doubt it pisses off uncle Eugene De La Hot Croix Bun every day that the boys, scrawny, homeless-looking chuds they are, got so rich off of not writing one original song...

You am I are pretty good but i dont think hit it big OS.

the living end played the UK a lot i thought?

The trajectory for most aussie bands is to play locally, maybe do 2-3 shows in another city every now and then, and if that doesnt stick then head to the UK for a year and try and crack it there.

After one of the Big Day Outs, Soundgarden chose You Am I to open for them on an American tour.

Dunno if that translated to US success though.

Well, the swotty Mosman brats got noticed thanks to JJJ's Unearthed competition and hosed off to the states and teamed up with that FREE HUGS hipster Juan Mann (Who an ex of mine assures me did for the notoriety and attention and actually didn't give a gently caress about people) which got them more attention than most (vastly superior in every facet) bands see in 30 years of slogging it out, all of which culminated in megalomania for the frontman Shimon Moore when he tried to dissolve the band through his lawyer without their knowledge and so kicked him out...

What a shitshow.
