zachol posted:What kind of legal action could you take against a kickstarter? I thought it was understood that a project could just fall through, or even be literal fraud with no intentions of ever delivering a product. I mean people get pissed all the time if and when that happens, it's not "commonly understood," but in terms of legal consequences I thought that's how it worked? Investment fraud is illegal and is subject to civil suits and/or criminal charges, depending on the situation. See Washington state winning restitution for Washington state investors and civil penalties for resident investors of a non-responsive kickstarter. Kickstarter themselves likely won't be held responsible unless they knowingly conspire with a fraudulent scheme, but project managers can absolutely be held liable for the promises that they make to attract investors. Most failed kickstarters won't involve lawsuits because of the logistical difficulty and cost, but taking money through kickstarter isn't a free fraud pass.

I think I'm not going to back Arydia, even though I really like it, and I was going to do a really big post about why except it boils down to 2 really simple things for me - I'm already backing Frosthaven - This is a board game attempting to be a video game. Again to me personally everything about this game looks great, I just don't have room for it in my collection. fischtick posted:This looks really cute and I love me a trick-taking game. Backed, and thanks! I have backed this, and it looks great. I worry it's not getting enough coverage because it launched alongside 20 bajillion other games. They showed off some art today and it's fantastic "Oh you're approaching me" Mosquito

Yesterday I want live with EVERY GOD WILL FALL: The Sticker Set! I've got eight sticker designs based on the zany li'l boys from my book EVERY GOD WILL FALL for Mork Borg. EVERY GOD WILL FALL is a d8 "table" of eight supernatural hirelings with pretensions, delusions, destinies, or mistaken identities of godhood. They're good for pretty much any OSR game where you can befriend weird little dudes! You can also get the book for just $2.00 in PDF by clicking here for a special DriveThruRPG discount. Huzzah!

It started bad and just kept adding badness on, like some never-ending soap opera. Was there not another old and beloved wargame series (was it Europa?) where there was a decade long saga of promised releases, dribbles of trivial rule tweaks, fires, health problems, tussles with the printer ... (I think it was Europa - there were running jokes about them mapping different grades of peat across Europe and the strategic implications of this.) (EDIT: It was Total War, a revision of a Europa game: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/26804/total-war)

There's always speculators in the CCG market but yeah it is kind of suspicious that there'd be this many on an untried product from a first time developer.

# ? Aug 5, 2021 20:20 |
Yeah almost selling out on the highest tier is weird, especially with how below average everything looks. I also couldn't understand the logic of the other one where he was worried about being bought out of his own company... like... even if is a massive scam, don't you want all that money in the first place? Some real poo poo going on. Money laundering perhaps?

I mean, they said there was going to be an announcement Friday, so I guess we'll see?

Only 4 games for the whole was in Europe ! In other news, the Avatar RPG just passed $3.25 million. I think we're going to see some records set.
