Any inconvenient piece of information is a conspiracy theory. It makes for a good excuse. The only thing we do any more is make excuses. Either it didn’t happen or it’s not our fault or it’s not so bad or they deserved it or you shouldn’t care because worse things exist.

brace and liz lost me when they unironically did the "jet fuel can't melt steel beams" thing, if you gently caress up simple material properties like that then you shouldn't be speaking on any engineering-related matters. i definitely believe though that bush and the us government allowed it to happen as a convenient excuse to start a new set of wars because they definitely had full knowledge of the plot.tokin opposition posted:The only good saga is a zombieland

Elderbean posted:Is there an article somewhere that compiles how many people the US has killed since the end of WW2? If you add up wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, plus the number killed via proxy wars and death squads what do you get, on average? There used to be groups like ARDIS (Assocation for Responsible Dissent) that, as of the late '80s, estimated that CIA covert ops alone were responsible for at least 6 million deaths. The group was comprised of ex-CIA officials so take those figures with a grain of salt. Calculating deaths America was either directly or indirectly responsible for through direct military intervention, CIA ops, the World Bank, IMF, etc. would probably be impossible but the number would obviously be way, way higher than 6 million MeatwadIsGod has issued a correction as of 18:51 on Aug 6, 2021 |

Why would buildings in general have fire insulation on their steel beams if steel beams in general are immune to fire? The secondary explosives theory just doesn’t lead anywhere. If true, it would open up the possibility of a lot of physical evidence. But that evidence isn’t there and the general theory of the crime works the same without it.

sure was real lucky that one of the terrorists' passports just landed unharmed in the streetquote:The passport was recovered by NYPD Detective Yuk H. Chin from a male passerby in a business suit, about 30 years old. The passerby left before being identified, while debris was falling from WTC 2. The tower collapsed shortly afterwards. The detective then gave the passport to the FBI on 9/11.

In my experience it is really difficult for me to discuss 9/11 and other conspiracy theories because a lot of the folks who believe them let it consume their entire identity. If you don't agree with every single little detail, even if I agree with the overall point, they'll get upset with me. I think that's part of why trueanon and a lot of Robbie Martin's work is refreshing for me to hear.

This is why conspiracy theory is reactionary, in the absence of a solid class analysis, which quite intentionally because of how the US works people generally don't have it, all ot does is demobilize people You should never lead with conspiracy for that reason. Start there if that's where they do, but never work your way toward that core

9/11 took a hell of a lot of training and planning and resources for the jihadists to pull off. It was majorly successful thanks to solid execution, heaps of luck and major sacrifice on their part. Truther stuff seeks to deny them their recognition and is, frankly, rude as hell.

It's the product of trying to make sense of a nonsensical world. How does a country with a $700 billion military budget let something like that happen? Remember- the operative word is let.
