I remember seeing this documentary when it came out. This kind of elective misery makes a creator insufferable. I'm glad he isn't more prolific because this dude popping up and weeping about astonishing success is something I can't deal with more than once a decade.

That whole movie is so weird. Phil Fish is all over it, burning the gently caress out of his offscreen former business partner in a fit of what now registers as intentional narrativecraft on his part. They picked the worst two dudes to focus on.

Any must have non spoiler tips for Hades? Seems like you just wanna farm keys and purple crystals first and play around with the weps until you find something you gel with? Only done like 3 runs but go upto the Minotaur and shield dude boss somehow lol

There’s tons of dialogue content to keep things fresh more or less no matter how much you die, so don’t worry about it, gently caress around. E: I’ll also note that while some builds are generally stronger than others, there’s no god that’s just utter trash and no way to permanently screw yourself.

Started playing The Ascent on PC, and man this game is really good! The story is kind of meh so far, but the basic gunplay and combat is fun. Had two crashes this morning, and discovered the bug where no audio will come through the headphones if using them via bluetooth. Definitely going to need a couple patches to fix some issues here and there.

People always lose their minds when a game/movie/book has an obnoxious auteur creator. Just ignore it and play the game. Anyway the third era of Art of Rally (late 70s-80s) was kicking my rear end until I found that boxy swedish car and now I’m posting decent leaderboard times. Finding a car to fit your style makes a massive difference. gently caress those Italian cars that fishtail at the slightest provocation.

It's all about discovering the rules of each symbol and then exploring those rules, corner cases, and how the rules interact with each other. It's a masterpiece of puzzle game design and nonverbal communication. It's fine if it's not for everyone, but it's really good at what it does. Also cool art. It is nothing at all like Myst. It has more in common with those puzzle magazines at the grocery store checkout aisle than Myst.

Akuma posted:I mean it is deliberately like Myst but with consistent puzzles, that was the whole impetus behind it. But myst's whole thing is the puzzles being a part of the game world, or really the game world itself being the puzzle. Apart from a fairly small number of exceptions, the game world in the witness was just an overly elaborate mildly inconvenient menu system for getting you from one set of puzzles to the next. 98% of the puzzles were just things on a tv in the game. It was comendable how well it elaborated and expanded on its core design as you went, but it did nothing to scratch the itch that myst/obduction/the room gave me.

Mierenneuker posted:I’m sure there was more to The Witness than the puzzles, but I didn’t enjoy the puzzle enough to play dozens of variations on it. Same. The thing that made me quit tho is that I didnt like how obtuse the tutorial parts of the witness were. Like heres 10 puzzles at the start of an area to teach you whats going on but oops i hope you didnt get the wrong impression from one of them that might have been ambiguous or you are screwed forever here until you rage quit and look up whats wrong. If i had to critique talos, id say it had a few too many puzzles where i couldnt tell if i was solving them as intended or finding a weird exploit. Its world was also a bit too austere and uninteresting visually imo too but thats subjective. Im not a big text log narrative guy either but some people say they enjoyed that part idk

Talos Principle's story was pretty good (and the side bits and flavor copy were surprisingly entertaining), but yeah you had to be super okay with digging through a ton of text logs for it.
