The reality is anytime a player who's among the elite of their position signs a new contract it usually makes them the highest paid at their position. So it's hardly surprising that he's resetting the market, especially when you consider the leverage he had over the Seahawks ( they could not afford to waste those picks they traded to get him). In a year or two that contract will not look like a big deal at all.

If he can stay healthy (big if) Derwin will get paid more than Adams though This is how contracts work, and Adams is clearly a big part of the defense Plus those were Seahawks firsts, ie 20th at highest and probably spent on a running back lol
