Been thinking about this a few days:

quote:

Can the Vaccinated Develop Long Covid After a Breakthrough Infection?

By Tara Parker-Pope
Published Aug. 16, 2021
Updated Aug. 17, 2021

...

While preliminary research suggests that it is, in fact, possible for a breakthrough case to lead to symptoms that can persist for weeks to months, there are still more questions than answers. What percent of breakthrough cases result in lingering symptoms? How many of those people recover? Are the persistent symptoms after breakthrough infection as severe as those that occur in the unvaccinated?

“I just don’t think there is enough data,” said Dr. Zijian Chen, medical director at the Center for Post-Covid Care at Mount Sinai Health System in New York. “It’s too early to tell. The population of people getting sick post vaccination isn’t that high right now, and there’s no good tracking mechanism for these patients.
Maybe if the CDC had actually decided to track non-severe breakthrough cases it wouldn't be so hard to answer some of these basic questions. Even from the point of view that out pandemic response has been entirely in service to number, not knowing the rate at which workers might contract a condition that prevents them from doing their job seems like something worth knowing.

Though TBF to the CDC if they were tracking non-severe COVID cases they'd be getting slammed right now. Can understand the drive to avoid work.

Interesting. Can you draw up a list of the software on these machines, check compatibility with Win10 and get back to me with that info?

[months later after being delivered this information]

Interesting. Can you check with other MRI offices in the region and see what version they're using?

At my last apartment, the fire alarms went off all the time at all hours. After about the third 2am alarm, you just look out the window. It's easy to tell who just moved in, because they're loitering around out front, waiting for the fire trucks to shut it off.

Part of the reason that people believe only 200 new cases were caused by Lollapalooza is because they feel like that number should in fact be knowable, that the state should be doing contact tracing that can determine the figure. Most charitably people aren't aware that the US never had any serious contact tracing capacity and even if it did the current case rates would make it useless. More realistically people care more about the nice-sounding number and don't think too hard about it's accuracy, to say nothing of the people aware it's baseless but cynically use it to motivate more opening ups.

In the 5 years I lived there, I only encountered smoke one time, and it was someone burning something in their oven. Didn't make sense to me, because I burned things enough to set off my smoke detector, but never set off the building alarm.
