(Not the George Michael stuff or the Primal Scream songs) It has the same type of acoustic guitar + talky whispery female vocal part intro. The only thing I can recommend is checking through Fiona Apple's and Tori Amos' singles catalogues from back then. Also, man, I still love that Tracy Bonham song

The "sooo-oooo-ooooo-lar powwwww-er" chorus sounds an awful lot to me like that part in Moby's "South Side," "hey [élan élan? THAT is the lyric? Wow]," but uh, not a female vocalist so who knows OH WAIT the disgusting Gwen Stefani duet remake; who knows, maybe this will at least help you narrow it down? Or could be it? Or could at least alert anyone unaware to the fact that there exists a version of this song without Gwen Stefani ruining it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5J23DIIrcqY&t=121s

Not a song, but a musical genre. It's an all-instrumental style using an ensemble consisting of what I can identify as violins (often playing pizzicato), flutes, clarinets, and oboes, with no bass or percussion. It has a bright and energetic sound, and, at least in my mind, is often associated with the zeitgeist of rapid technological development in the USA during the 1950s and 1960s. The original Sims game provides a few good examples in its soundtrack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=399YneFTwh0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObCgwGR__wE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SP4_Oz1U-NI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnKUyE2peDw What is this called? For some reason I find it really endearing, though. It makes me feel like I am cleaning the cleanest kitchen.

A related term that will get you the goods if you are into this kind of sometimes-mocked-but-utterly-amazingly-chill music: beautiful music. This used to be a fairly popular format for radio stations 50 years ago but there were only a handful of stations left last I checked, including one in rural Gibson City, Illinois, which I listened to religiously for years when driving through the area. Though sadly it changed recently to mostly standard 60s-70s oldies with only sporadic beautiful music SiriusXM has a station too! "Escape!" Or "Spa" if beautiful music is too intense for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aDKDKhGnbA

sitting in a denny's, just heard this song very quietly from out of the kitchen, can't identify it eighties (maybe early nineties) dance track, male rapper on the verses, woman singing the hook, repeated bit of three orchestra hit samples (slightly delayed) the first two on the same note, the third a step down

What I heard is definitely more of a mid-to-late-80s sound than the full-on 90s eurodance being linked here I just dug through an orchestra hit playlist and the closest thing on it was Janet Jackson's "When I Think of You" so it's way more in that Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis mode than anything. This was literally on the far side of the room and I could barely hear it, so my mind's already playing tricks on me as to what I heard, but I'll keep digging around, see what I can come up with.

I played tuba in the middle school band, and in 2001-2002, we played a song that featured a two measure tuba solo in the middle. So that's what I'm looking for: a song written/arranged before 2003, appropriate for second or third year band students, that has a very short tuba solo. It was a pretty slow and "regal" song, but that describes everything written for that grade level.

Halloween is coming up and i cant stop thinking about this specific music video. It was a rap song about getting your crew together in a cabin to face some threat (alluding to police) and everyone slow getting gunned down. The visuals was the lyrics flashing on the screen to the beat in pumpkin orange in 80's slasher film font.

it's a folky protesty kind of song, acoustic guitar and vocals iirc. the spoken word breakdown is about how the guy didn't want to plow one of his fields so he wrote a letter to his wife telling her that the guns were buried under that field. the fbi intercepted the letter and dug up the field looking for the guns
