VomitOnLino posted:Not just that they (HR) are also exceedingly lazy, inefficient, craven and stupid. We didn't have a local HR person for about 2 years, after the old one got promoted to the parent company after 25 years. For all this time, our HR was now located 300 miles away. A couple months ago, we got a local one. I think all she does is run around and gossip with the other people who's jobs are mostly worthless, like the receptionist, sales, and accounting. We've had a couple new hires recently, and for each of them she's sent out an information sheet on them. This sheet is like something you'd give a middle school student at the beginning of the year, right down to the weirdly childish formatting for a manufacturing facility. She's also been codifying certain policies that were just sorta a couple lines in the handbook. Every one of them is badly worded. I recall some smarter goon than I, in some long lost thread saying that people who go into HR as a career majored in high school, and goddamn if it isn't obvious with this one.

It stinks there aren't more old judges like that Kentucky one who was slapping ankle monitors on people breaking quarantines. A decade ago and you probably have a bunch of them that remember classmates with polio and god knows what else and are going to be extremely serious about enforcement. C'est la vie

Yeah sounds about right. I mean I try to be kind as we sort of all are in the same (paycheck-to-paycheck) boat, but at the same time they often add so much extra misery to everyones life. However, I think the real problems start when the company and thus the HR department grows bigger and they gain real clout. Then you see the proper kafkaeque poo poo

Yet, in all the time I've seen these mails no one is ever considered to have been in "close contact" (scare quotes HRs) with each anyone. Edit: It's usuall one line of unformulated text per each case. And then two paragraphs about how we wiped the desk and the copier and the pencils and the elevator and everything is so clean and please don't sue us.

It's going to be peak CENTRISM when both sides refuse to extend unemployment causing a turbo loving where some poors become full destitute out of self preservation and tank the economy due a cliff in consumer spending, triggering a worldwide recession, and the other half return to work out of desperation and there is mass death that rivals the holocaust...also triggering a recession but with way more death and innocents lost. Guess which outcome politicans will be more concerned with?

I’ve been trying to learn Spanish (I know a little more than I used to) and I decided to try to learn some basic computer programming last week (that isn’t working at all but it’s fun to poke at until I get frustrated, I think I need a real live teacher for that one). It’s a good time to try out some new hobbies you can do by yourself. I wish I had a garden to gently caress around with. As the weather gets worse, we’re looking at prime book-reading conditions, I would always recommend that. everyone should take up guitar or bass and take lessons from me so I can buy more beans

Zurtilik posted:Go on... most synths can be broken down into 4 sections: oscillators, filters, envelopes, and LFOs oscillators are the things that make sounds because sound is vibrating air. these come in many varieties and there’s all sorts of ways to mix and match your style of vibration. most oscillators need some filtering to sound gooder. filters are just that: the part of the synth that lets certain frequencies through and not others to shape your general sound. but it’s also boring if you just set the filter at one point and let it sit there. envelopes are a one time cycle that tells your filter where to be at what point in time (you can attach envelopes to almost any parameter on a synth tho) LFOs are a constantly cycling envelope, you can define the shape and depth of that cycle as well. DM me if you’d like an hour long explanation and walkthrough on your personal synth
