It's been pretty awesome. I mainly use it to play FF14 while hanging out in the living room and it was a great size for traveling. The reddit seems overly concerned with micromanaging the temps. I don't think anyone needs to do that. It runs hot, but it's got fans and doesn't throttle.

I got the e-mail from Sony giving me a two hour window tomorrow to purchase a PS5, has anyone here done this before? I turned on my e-mail notifications like two weeks ago so glad that worked. I got my address and payment info updated so that should be good to go. The e-mail seems legit, I followed a link to the FAQ and it is the playstation direct website. It is from email @ email.playstation.com, I am researching to make sure that it isn't a scam. The e-mail warns against using the link early as it could cause me to get locked out, doesn't seem very scam-like. Man this would be perfect timing.

Yeah I got my PS5 that way as well. It's legit and great because there was no need to mash the F5 button on my keyboard and I had everything purchased within five minutes of the window opening. Would high recommend it.

Thanks for the replies! Stupid question though: Did they ship it in a box, like a non descript brown box? I worry about porch pirates here and if they ship it in just the PS5 box I may as well take the day off work to watch for it.

I must have turned them off a long time ago but I turned it back on within the last couple weeks. Well my order went through and they charged me. I did get an extra controller (they were 10% off) and got free 2 day shipping. I did have to go through 3 captchas though. The first two were normal, select the squares with whatever, what code did we text you but the third was new to me. There were 6 small images of a maze that contained a mouse and a piece of cheese. The instructions were to select the maze that was impossible. One maze on each page had either the mouse or the cheese surrounded by walls thus making it impossible. Me and a coworker were laughing at it, never seen that one before. They must really not want bots to get them. Now the only downside is since I just moved I am still waiting on my storage unit where me TV is!  All I have is my laptop maybe I can connect it to that until I get my TV.

Just picked up Alien: Fireteam  It’s reminding me of old school AvP2, endless hordes that are goingto sample your brain-meat unless you’re quick on the trigger. I’ve made it through the first 3 missions, it’s insanely brutal and you have to keep an eye out in every direction. The beeping motion tracker is going to haunt me  Even the Alien Theory YouTube guy is enjoying it. I think it’s going to be a solid game

The Aliens motion tracker noise is up there with the Jaws theme for like, most ominous/intense movie noise ever imo. The motion tracker and pulse rifle audio has been seared into my brain since childhood.

It's definitely one of my favorite sci-fi horror games, just killer atmosphere. A rare instance of the Alien IP being used in the past couple of decades for something that isn't just forgettable ho-hum shovelware IMO (haven't played Fireteam yet). Even though it's like 7 years old at this point I still think it holds up visually, the amount of effort that went into making everything look and feel like the first movie is pretty impressive. If you're going to play it I suggest going in blind and steering clear of reviews/walkthroughs etc. edit: it's basically a big budget Amnesia: The Dark Descent in space. I miss AvP2 multiplayer. Probably one of my favorite FPS multiplayer experiences ever. It’s a shame nobody can get the Alien or Predator gameplay right anymore.

The game is like 90% you running around with at least one NPC doing escort missions so the entire game is built around making that suck as little as possible, which makes intense action fighting stuff not really possible.

I noped out of playing Alien Isolation after the first few hours and didn't touch it for almost 4 years. Finally worked up the courage to finish it during last year's pandemic isolation (heh), and I'm glad I did. Awesome campaign with some really cool setpieces from the first movie.
