Choshu is in the first class so I'm not sure Rikidozan being Korean is a reason for him not being in and as for the Yakuza...Well I'd imagine the Japanese hall would be pretty barren if they were super worried about Yakuza ties. This probably is the hall feuding with Rikidozan's family over rights or some other petty reason

Choshu is ethnically Korean, and if anyone went digging, it probably won't take long to find yakuza connections.

The tag team of Shotaro Ashino & Suwama will be known as Runaway Suplex, which seems an appropriate description.

Me and a group of friends are making a 2010s Wrestler of the Decade list. Was anyone from NOAH doing particularly great work during that time? I know it's kind of their dark age coming out of Misawa's death in 2009, and there was the Bushiroad stuff and the Suzuki-gun invasion angle whom the NOAH fans don't like. Frankly, before Lidet and Cyberfight I don't know much about what they did around that period. At the very least what were some memorable matches?

And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.

What was some great work from him? I'm researching Sugiura, Marufuji (who moved up to heavyweight last decade), and Go, but from what I've read Go only cemented his status as a bonafide top star during his GHC Heavyweight champion run in 2020-2021.

GEORGE W BUSHI
Jul 1, 2012

Sugiura was my wrestler of the year in 2018. I'd recommend watching pretty much all of his GHC title defences that year but particularly his match with Katsuhiko Nakajima from October 4th (which to be honest is actually Nakajima in the starring role).

Nakajima is also worth doing a dive on. He didn't really put it together character/charisma wise until he permed his hair and went heel in 2017 but he was always a great worker.

So, 10 great Sugi matches from the 2010s, in no particular order except what comes to mind first (and these aren't the only 10, obviously)

vs Daisuke Sekimoto, 31/8/14
vs Minoru Suzuki, 19/9/15
Vs Yoshihiro Takayama, 10/7/10
Vs KENTA, 12/5/13
Vs Hirooki Goto, 4/1/10
Vs Go Shiozaki, 18/8/18
Vs Kenoh, 26/6/18
Vs Katsuhiko Nakajima, 4/10/18
W/ KAZMA SAKAMOTO vs AXIZ, 13/6/19
W/ Masato Tanaka vs Strong BJ, 3/1/20

I included both 2010 & 2020 in the decade because that Dangan Yankees vs STRONG BJ match rules, so if you need another 10th then the highest rated Sugiura match is Daisuke Sekimoto, Masato Tanaka & Takashi Sugiura vs HARASHIMA, Yuji Hino & Yuji Okabayashi from 30/6/15 which sounds like it'd be dope but I haven't seen it myself to confirm.

I'd second considering Nakajima, & Go is still worth a look, yeah he didn't become the ace until last year but he still had plenty of bangers, like Sekimoto & Hino vs Go & Okabayashi from a Kenta Kobashi Produce show, or his Triple Crown challenge against Joe Doering or the 2019 D-Ou GP match with Kazusada Higuchi & plenty others. There's some crackers with Suwama from his All Japan run too

Suwama, Kento Miyahara, Daisuke Sekimoto, Shuji Ishikawa & Masashi Takeda are names who should bare minimum be in the conversation.

Obviously Shingo Takagi & Masaaki Mochizuki from Dragon Gate would be right up there and wouldn't be the only ones.

I'm still seething quietly to myself that 2AW has gotten impossible to watch without using the dreaded NicoPro. Last show I saw was the one where Yoshida dropped the Openweight belt to Taishi Takizawa, 29th April. Makes me sad, I'd totaly watch Takizawa vs Taylor Adams because Yoshida vs Adams was real good.

But yes, Yoshida still rules.

So it seems like GLEAT does paid Nico shows live on the day but then uploads them about a week later. They also just had a press conference for the next Lidet UWF show, which happens on October 9th.

Has there been any word on introducing belts yet?

My new keyboard was meant to have arrived today. Or yesterday. But it didn't so I had to put this together without it which is a pain in the balls. But it's done anyway. Big week after a quieter period, couple of big joshi shows from Ice Ribbon & SEAdLINNNG plus the never ending 5 Star GP continues to not end. Meanwhile Dangerous Gate means 3 Dragon Gate title matches, AJPW have a Triple Crown clash with Lee & Suwama, the N1 moves into a triple-header of no crowd shows, GLEAT are back but probably none of us will see it for a while, & oh yeah, 4 G1 shows with some potentially awesome matches. Hope they don't disappoint.

They focused so much on Diamante trying to unmask Shun Skywalker in the past month that I'm kind of surprised their Dangerous Gate match isn't an apuesta.

[edit] lmao just watched the GLEAT show and KAZMA still has WWE in his Twitter handle. The possibility of him joining Team Mean Beefman is perfect for him and I hope it happens.

GLEAT will address the Hayato Tamura controversy on September 29th's show and announce the future of Hayato Tamura and GLEAT.

I hope they sign him to a contract rather than punish him. Tamura is worth more than a relationship with ZERO1 in 2021.

Is Mochizuki wrestling both Dangerous Gate and a NOAH show in the same night or is the NOAH show taped?

I assume the 3 NOAH shows are being filmed as one block

NOAH did a fan event two days ago at the same spot the N1 is supposed to happening at, the general consensus is that they most probably taped those matches then.

Dangerous Gate commentary just mentioned that Mochizuki is in fact wrestling twice today. He's flying out for the NOAH show right after his DG match.

Hard to tell with Jae sometimes lol

He and HoHo are goofy but weirdly charming on commentary.

Finally watching the DDT show from the 16th and goddamn I've missed YOSHIHIKO, watching Yuki Ueno interract with him is such a great time. It makes me which I put in the effort to learn Japanese, if only so I know what Ueno and Honda are yelling at each other while grappling with Yoshi

It's always fun to hear rarely used themes, Yusuke Kodama normally comes out with the Total Eclipse theme and shirt so it's easy to forget he has music of his own and proper entrance attire

Haven't been watching the show but All Japan have announced the lineup for Real World Tag League

https://twitter.com/PKDX/status/1440262056456822786?s=20

Block A
Runaway Suplex (Ashino & Suwama)
Total Eclipse (Lee & Omori)
Team BJW (Abdullah Kobayashi & Drew Parker!)
Saito Brothers (Jun & Rei Saito)

Block B
NEXTREAM (Miyahara & Aoyagi)
Team ECW (TAJIRI & Super Crazy)
STRONGHEARTS (T-Hawk & El Lindaman)
Purple Haze (Izanagi & Devil Murasaki)

Block C
Twin Towers (Ishikawa & Sato)
Losers Army (Yoshitatsu & Seigo Tachibana)
Team Dradition (LEONA & Mitsuya Nagai)
Kengo Mashimo & KAZMA SAKAMOTO

Block D
Purple Haze (Zeus & Irie)
Takao Omori & Yuko Miyamoto
Koji Iwamoto & Ryuki Honda
Total Eclipse (Koji Doi & Kuma Arashi)

I'm pretty excited actually, the only names I didn't recognise were the Dradition team, LEONA is apparently Tatsumi Fujinami's kid. If I was being pedantic I might ask "why is Omori tagging with Miyamoto? Just bring in Kodaka & have Yankee Two Kenju" & "WHY HAVE YOU NOT FOUND A WAY TO INCLUDE ASTRONAUTS YOU BASTARDS?" but otherwise fun field. OK, Devil Murasaki is green as hell & I could do without him, the ECW team is really odd but gently caress it why not? & also I've just had more than my fill of Yoshitatsu at this point, he peaked 2 years ago when he was tagging with Kento, they could just do Tachibana with Baliyan Akki for a Yoshitatsu's Friends team. But mostly man, no Astronauts? What a loving bummer.

On a more positive note, KAZMA & Kengo should be fun, Mashimo hasn't been in All Japan for 3 years, & those guys haven't tagged together in even longer. They were K-DOJO Tag Champs back in 2013
