Today's OSHA moment: A new fire safety company bought out the small local fire safety company that used to inspect/maintain our town's fire suppression systems in public buildings. One of the new inspectors was called in because the dry chemical suppressant system in the kitchen at the fairgrounds had something wrong with it (I do not know the details of this). After inspection, he informed the supervisor that they could not actually repair the system, because it had been obsolete and also illegal for something like twenty years. You cannot have a dry chemical fire suppression system in a commercial kitchen. The supervisor said that the system actually pre-dated that law, and was grandfathered in. "Yes," said the inspector, "we've been hearing that from a lot of [old company]'s customers. That's not actually a thing. You cannot be grandfathered in to keeping obsolete fire safety measures." They are probably just going to stop renting out the kitchen.

As I posted previously: the engines surged out of control (blamed on a software error) and the choice was "ram the yacht club," "ram a busy bridge," or "probably tear open the diesel tanks on rocks." There's only a half meter of clearance between the rocks and hull when things are going to plan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAmZ_HbVvzM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyEvHOBHnHI

Maybe it's just me but "engines surging out of control" would mean that maybe I don't try to move under my own power after the FIRST crash, let alone the second. Then again, I don't own a mega yacht so

I'd bet 100% it was the owner pushing the captain aside to try and show off for his guests and their barely legal hookers.

If you've got megayacht money, I'd think that just ramming into the docks and all those normal yachts owned by poor people is just a bit of fun for the owner.

While this is a likely possibility I would guess the probability is equally high for a custom control software for private yachts to be bugged to hell because the buyers insist on having new unplanned custom features added all the time.
