Last in year in Portland, there were squads of DOJ feds all kitted out in high-cut helmets and Multicam rolling around in unmarked vans and jumping out to snatch people, seemingly at random. I do wonder what would have happened if a lawful CCW holder had been in proximity, and come to the conclusion that these guys and their Call of Duty operator cosplay garb were Proud Boy types attempting to kidnap someone and drawn on them. I have an inkling that the outcome would have involved at least a few dead people, but to me, that seems like a clear-cut example of self defense like this Minneapolis video.

The police report said "no injuries" even though he had to be taken to the hospital. Here's the rundown if you're not familiar with this particular police crime. Stallings (army vet) and others were our protesting, which is their lawful right, after curfew. They weren't looting or rioting. They had been protesting all day and were still out after the police curfew. Stallings is a truck driver and was lawfully armed. He and some people were in a parking lot talking when someone ran up screaming "they're shooting they're shooting." He had his gun because the loving mayor had warned of nazis going to protests to start fights, so when he heard someone say "they're shooting" he went over next to his pickup to look around. The "they" in this case were the MPD swat team in an unmarked white van with no lights on. They were shooting pretty indiscriminately up and down Lake street. They loving shot the owner of a corner convenience store and his family with nonlethal rounds for being in front of their own business. Police in the car were amping each up other up to light up the next people they saw after successfully hitting a few targets before. They were very deliberately trying to hurt people with 40mm rubber bullets and broing up their brutality. As they rolled up on the parking lot, they spotting Stallings and started unloading on him. One of the rounds hit him in the chest. The officer testified he was trained to shoot 40mm at the feet and legs and had no explanation for why he shot Stallings directly in the chest. Stallings had been shot before, and thought that he had been shot again and shot three times at the ground in front of the van to say "hey gently caress off and leave me alone." Immediately after, the clown car emptied yelling "shots fired," Jaleel realized they were cops, threw his gun to the side, laid face down on the ground with his arms spread. The cops ran up and started kicking him in the face and beating the gently caress out of him before finally cuffing him. Even after this, Stallings' only concern was whether or not he had hurt an officer. He didn't. They tried to throw the book at him, and their conduct almost rose to the level of getting the entire case tossed on a motion to dismiss. The mayor was correct. Nazis were patrolling the streets shooting people. They were wearing blue. Eh...there are plenty of photos/videos showing a few handfuls of cops spread out with hundreds of insurrectionists around them. As much as cops like to inaccurately describe the job as "dangerous" it's also not a suicide pact - especially not when you risk inciting greater violence. I don't remember a lot of doors being opened by cops, mostly just protesting while people moved barricades and walked past them.

The Thin Blue Line is so thick that the Capitol police, even with irrefutable proof that many of their fellows are turncoats and are willing to abet a violent mob to beat them with fire extinguishers and their own batons, still circled the wagons to protect their own. Because it turns out those turncoats were only slightly more pilled than the rest of them. Well it's all fine because they collectively got shiney medals and massive budget increases.

I don't pay attention to social media and I didn't see that part in the news, so that's on me then  The only specific images I remember with cops involved was when that woman got shot, the one cop leading people away from legislators, and a couple cops try to hold back the mob at barricades before the mob just ignored them which was a pretty clear case of them choosing "flight" over "fight."
