The computers DID have Windows installed (3.1, I think) but didn't automatically boot to that. They didn't want us in Windows, especially, heaven forbid, playing solitaire. To discourage this, they hid the trackballs. It was common knowledge how to get to CD/win. I taught myself how to play solitaire with the keyboard.

I stick around because the moderation is pretty good at keeping the niche topic threads in line. I've always preferred forums to almost any other form of internet communication. But I definitely hosed myself up in ways with how much internet I've consumed. Still, it is nice having been part of a solid community for nearly 2 decades.

All social media is bad, but Instagram -to me- hasn't yet reached the point of forcing you to engage with companies and/or controversial posts to hook you that Facebook has, plus I like seeing my friend's cool photos.
