I don't know why I did this to myself, but I spun up James LaBrie's 2005 Elements of Persuasion and it's hilarious hearing that guy try to sound "hard" over a guitarist doing a Morello impersonation and nu-metal record scratching. Truly a moment in time best forgotten.

The new Green Lung album is out tomorrow, and it's bursting full of unabashedly huge riffs and hammond organ. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzlPAEU-YOI They also manage to hit the "what if Ghost, but so much better and cooler?" vibe. for horror movie boobs, satanism and enormous sideburns. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVUrOErXsJc

Boston's debut whips in general but yeah Foreplay/Long Time is a classic. We were on vacation recently and there was a giant beach carnival/festival kinda deal with tons of vendors, live music, etc. We skipped most of it but like 2pm one day was a Boston cover band who absolutely ruled. At the end of their set they go "thanks, thanks, we'll be back at 4pm as Styx!" and exit stage left. Styx also ruled

There's a new Inter Arma track out on a compilation. I like it a lot, got some good old school black metal vibes going on. https://machinemusic1981.bandcamp.com/track/inter-arma-bone-flower-exclusive The link just goes straight to the track, but you can easily get to the compilation to check out the other stuff on it.

SUNAMI are fun and definitely one of the hot bands hc kids will talk about this year and then probably disappear without trace in 12 months. Seeing them in January at FYA, should be a silly good time.

Nazzadan posted:Ravenous, pm. Not fully out on BC, released elsewhere Listening to this atm, and it's really drat good. Actually putting some power in power metal. Some similar energy to old thrashy Blind Guardian, but not a pastiche or anything. I've also gotten a slight "kinda like Powerwolf but actually good" vibe from a couple parts. Downside is, apparently Gilbert Gottfried hates them. Adding to the list, there's also new 1914. Not yet on bc as of this post, but I listened to it on Spotify and it's very good. Really strong black/death.
