There was a twitter tag that All the TERF accounts responded to recently - there's only about 2000 accounts, they are just very vocal.
Every survey shows a majority of people in the UK are in favour of Trans-rights, with the majority getting larger the younger the survey sample is.

the lower classes of jobs are seeing two things happen - workers have had enough of slavery and are starting to get that growing feeling that you're mentioning..however, while that's happening, the jobs themselves are doing the same thing they've been doing for a decade, which is running every resume through bots that throw them all in the trash at the slightest wrong answer on a 150 question personality quiz, don't give any rejection notices, not hiring anyone, lumping the work onto the suckers too scared to jump ship, and spending the profits on billboards about how everyone's lazy. I can't find it now but there was a tweet a few days ago by a journalist who applied for 50 menial jobs and heard nothing back at all.

the upper levels of work are still continuing along with dutiful employees who aren't having their lives wrecked yet so they don't care much. i don't think many people making anything above $30/hr know about anything like /antiwork

most union members are chuds, which is irrelevant to whether unions can be part of a greater leftist movement but it is what it is. Also, the DSA tried to picket with them outside their workplace but were afraid of being arrested so instead they protested outside the courthouse where a judge issued an order that picketing outside the workpalce was illegal - thus the fear of arrest.

the thing that international perspectives on corbynism tend to miss and inaccurately blame exclusively on boris or brexit - and trust me horrible problems is basically the only thing we don't have a shortage of thanks to those two i'm not saying they're good - is that most of his pitch was "please lets fix the many catastrophes". it was kind of the reason the left actually did, for just a second, form the broad electoral coalition we've needed since the 80s - go look at excess deaths and life expectancies in contrast to our immediate neighbours to see the literal hundreds of thousands of people prematurely dead because of margaret thatcher, tony blair, david cameron and theresa may. i'm not broadly read on major but i'm sure he's a oval office too.

the UK was not so running on fumes as being totally empty and ineffectively pushed for miles after someone sold the loving wheels. there was an incredibly slim chance of improving any of that and it's sadly not going to happen - the response to that left electoral coalition was a grand coalition of everyone else and i mean everyone. the liberal press peeled off support while the reactionaries crystallized theirs. lessons internationalists desperately need to be retaught.

the uk didn't just suddenly get worse, it's been decaying for christ at least forty years probably much much more.

I read this thread a lot because the DnD UK-thread sometimes seems way too obsessed with decorum (but that might just be me) and I actually learn a lot more reading this one (might be because I'm a leftist as well so I just like the sentiments here more). The one thing I don't *get* is why this thread gets heated every few pages. I don't expect an answer, it doesn't really detract from how good the thread is otherwise.

lets talk about the supercold. every single source i can find talking on it i can find is hot garbage - just a who's who from the worst redtops in the entire world. including the bbc's children's section piece titled "Super cold: Is 'the worst cold ever' going around?"

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-58624295

this is personal observation so apologies but it was also on the frontpage of the bbc for a weirdly long time. that might be because it's the only newsbeat piece on the coronavirus and an algo thing.

the central conceit of these pieces all revolve around viewers, listeners, readers whatever reporting in extreme flulike symptoms in magnitude they had never experienced but having a negative lateral flow covid test and it's framed like it's some social distancing induced i guess immuno weakness? like in the bbc piece it dances around this by citing a doctor saying a bunch of things that do not support the rest of the piece - that non-covid infections are rising, as they always do this time of year and not out of proportion except to last year where there was almost no transmission. and of course the further into the gutter you go there is less and less pretence - papers report alleged ways to tell the difference between covid and supercold, report on asking for official scientific sources to look into it without reporting the outcome or response.

that's not like, this feels not real? if you're a young person who is sick for two weeks right now i'd probably insist on several tests or a PCR maybe. i can't get that image gonadic io posted of all the regions but the southwest which had a massive testing scandal looking smooth sailing and the southwest like a fuckin roller coaster out of my head, lol

well i guess that's why i ask, i have no idea how non-novel cornaviruses spread. does having an immune system sheltered from typical exposure for a year routinely cause extreme escalation of symptomatic disease? i can believe more people are getting sick but that is not what is being reported. the magnitude of the disease is what interests me.
