To be fair, Fox put on a regular-season MLS match on an NFL Sunday a few years ago and both matches (depending on which window the NFL game was on) did great ratings.

Don't they have English commentary via SAP? You almost certainly won't want to HEAR it but it exists.

I didn't realize that the Galaxy didn't drop out of the top 7 in the West until literally the end of last weekend. They may have played like five minutes total all year beneath the playoff line considering how late that Kreilach goal came

Galaxy really quietly sucked after a decent start this season.

Betting odds also severely overrated LAFC during the entire season. Most models and odds are driven by xG or something similar , so heres some xG notes - LAFC finished 1st in the west and 2nd in the league in expected goal difference at +21 (+2 actual GD) Top of the league in xGD was NYCFC at +26 xGD (+20 actual GD). Largest xGD overperformance was Sporting KC - xGD of +1 (+17 actual GD) KC, New England, Seattle, Vancouver, Nashville and Portland all outperformed expected GD by 10 goals or more The only playoff team to underperform expected GD by -7 or worse is Minnesota (+7 xGD, -2 actual) - NYCFC underperformed by 6, no other playoff team underperformed xGD. Maybe taking your chances (or making really good saves) is generally a good idea if you want to make the playoffs. Maybe Minnesota has been unlucky and is better than they look. Maybe they can't loving finish. xG LAFC is hilarious regardless. From the statement above, it seems that the league is considering his time away from the team during the investigation to be the sum of his punishment. In theory, he could play for RSL again once he completes the diversity and inclusion training, though it is unlikely. ...as I believe he's out of contract at the end of this year. I think it's likelier that he stays away from the team for the six weeks or so until his contract is up.

Year end award nominees and my unsolicited opinions: Landon Donovan MLS Most Valuable Player Valentín Castellanos (New York City FC) Carles Gil (New England Revolution) Hany Mukhtar (Nashville SC) Joăo Paulo (Seattle Sounders FC) Dániel Sallói (Sporting Kansas City) (Probably Gil, could see Mukhtar because he actually played for the full season) Allstate Goalkeeper of the Year Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union) Matt Turner (New England Revolution) Joe Willis (Nashville SC) (Stats seems to like Blake, but I think narrative makes Turner the winner) Defender of the Year Yeimar Gómez (Seattle Sounders FC) Miles Robinson (Atlanta United) Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC) (My heart says Yeimar, so it'll probably be Zimmerman to spite me) Newcomer of the Year Cristian ‘Chicho’ Arango (Los Angeles Football Club) Ryan Gauld (Vancouver Whitecaps FC) Eduardo ‘Chofis’ López (San Jose Earthquakes) (Arango, as he almost single-handedly got LAFC into the playoffs, while Gauld had White to help bring the Whitecaps above the line) Young Player of the Year Julián Araujo (LA Galaxy) Tajon Buchanan (New England Revolution) Ricardo Pepi (FC Dallas) (Pepi seems like a good bet to win this one) Comeback Player of the Year Carles Gil (New England Revolution) Javier "Chicharito" Hernández (LA Galaxy) Dániel Sallói (Sporting Kansas City) (Probably Gil, so watch it be Chicharito because he's a name) MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year Julián Araujo (LA Galaxy) Justin Morrow (Toronto FC) Brad Stuver (Austin FC) (Everyone's a winner here) Sigi Schmid Coach of the Year Bruce Arena (New England Revolution) Robin Fraser (Colorado Rapids) Brian Schmetzer (Seattle Sounders FC) (I imagine this will be the order of the final results) Referee of the Year Jair Marrufo Robert Sibiga Armando Villarreal (I don't know which one of these three I swore at the least) Assistant Referee of the Year Frank Anderson Ian Anderson Cory Richardson (The guy who plays the flute I guess)

Coach of the year has to be Fraser. It'll probably be Arena because they won the Shield, but Fraser has done so well in the West, and with the smallest budget in the league.
