Most of the journal writing oddness could even have been resolved by the simple expedient of establishing right at the start that any text narration is from Snout writing a book about his adventure to find the legacy (I use adventure in the loosest possible sense here). Bam, solves like 95% of the situations where it makes no sense for him to be writing about a thing. The other 5% would only need to be written slightly different to fix them as well. All the internally consistent narration you could want while still technically being dialogue free. You could even use it to have Snout write about character motivations during a sequence, since he could be writing post factually. This would require a non zero degree of planning, so it obviously was never an option. Can't discuss character motivations when you haven't bothered figuring them out yourself! I think that might be one of the big differences between this and OG Deegan actually. He still clearly made everything up on the fly, but did have would could charitably be called plot. I think it's because Dominic gives him a literal narrative crutch. Your main character is a powerful seer, so you give him a scary vision that sounds cool to you at the time. Then you more or less have to sort that storyline out, at least sometimes. This at least gives you something to work with to force forward momentum in your storylines, plus gives you convenient deus ex machina. Legacy doesn't have any of that, so we're all just floating aimlessly as Mookie flails around.

I would honestly prefer that the next page be consensual sex between a gross nincompoop and a horrible lake hag than yet other story where all the women are sexualized in some way but the overtly sexual ones are mocked or evil. Especially since Mookies' idea of pure and wholesome is creepy uninvited night time cuddling.

I can't imagine Snout agreeing to consensual sex because he's shown like, zero interest in it. Even cuddling with naked women he's seemed more annoyed at them for flopping on him than anything else. He acts so childlike that any sort of sex act will just seem super gross and non consensual because he's been written like a child who doesn't even know what it is.
