So the Castlevania Advanced collection seems pretty nice. I really enjoyed the last collection anyway and I wouldn’t mind giving (most) of the Castlevania franchise a fair shake at playing. But there are so many different gameplay differences between entries that it makes the whole thing kinda daunting. How are the GBA games different? Do they glean more from SotN and/or Super Metroid at this point? I don’t quite get what really defines the era this package is trying to cover.

I always equip the scythe, gold-hemmed robes and poison spells when going online. I hope someone out there gets a kick out of phoning a random demon and calling in a grim reaper. I also have actually useful gear I’ll draw if pressed, but I prefer not to.

CotM is the first of them and is fairly rough, but by AoS the portable Castlevania format got refined to a good point.

Started playing AI Somnium Files, mostly based on recommendations in this thread, and although the story and setting is good the juvenile boob jokes and sexual tensions with 18 year olds are growing old really fast.

Three huge Metroidvanias for the price of one. The open-world Castlevanias are much larger than the linear ones

The story goes fun places (but never quite as hard as I was hoping it would), and the branching storyline concept is really neat. But the lovely humor never stops, just as a warning. It also really rubbed me the wrong way, but I felt like the game as a while was worth playing through it (and it does become a little more sparse as the game goes on).

Thankfully Date, the main character, is never that bad, unless I'm forgetting something. He's mostly just obsessed with porno mags among other things, and there's some pretty crude throwaway jokes leading to banter with is partner.

Nah, I'm with you. The worst is when it's played off as "WELL, HE'S AN OLD MAN, HE'S HARMLESS!" In a similar vein, my partner was horrified to learn that, prior to New Horizons, Kapp'n would hit on female players (but not male), as he'd only ever made male characters in AC and thus never experienced things such as:    Even as a little girl, I was kinda unsettled! Nothing like teaching young girls to just "deal with it" when they're a captive audience (boat ride, taxi ride, etc) to a pervy old man! New Horizons nerfed Kapp'n's boner, and I'm glad.

A lot of Date being a pervert happens entirely in his thoughts, but there's definitely still stuff with Iris that's uncomfortable (Even if he never ends up acting on anything or actually doing anything wrong in the end). AI Somnium is a great game otherwise, but yeah don't begrudge people wanting to avoid that kind of stuff.

The display is amaaaazzzzzing

I love the display on the OLED switch. They price was a bit a shock, but once you get past that, it's great. The battery lasts a long time too. If anyone still has a launch switch, I would say it's worth upgrading for the screen and battery life alone. If you don't play portable, don't bother.
