It was a shame how he carried on
He actually probably wouldn't have revealed how lovely he was in the interview, so it's good they found out now instead of months later.

Some of the most charming people in short interactions like that end up being terrible. The fact that boss man thought he "made a good impression" only further proves this.

Did you want to know how to write the famous "fizzbuzz" programming challenge and interview question in the lovely reddit relationships programming language? No? gently caress you you're gonna see anyway!

quote:

History about my family- we count down from 50 to 0
Backstory about us, we print fizz if the integer is divisible by 3
Our family history is that we print buzz if divisible by 5
And our last bit of history is that we print fizzbuzz if divisible by 3 AND 5
My program, for ease lets call it fizzybuzz, is quite empty
My f, for clarity lets call it frank, is mostlly empty
Our i, for clarity lets call it ian, is almostt two
So z, for simplicity lets call it zack, is qwertyuio empty
The b, for ease lets call it bob, is grosly grosss
My u, for clarity lets call it union, is blahblah words
Our nest, for clarity lets call it nest, is empty
Our third, for clarity lets call it third, is qwe
Our fifth, for clarity lets call it fifth, is qwert
My cat, for ease lets call it cat, is a
My space, for simplicity lets call it my_car, is qwe ty

I calmly explained to fizzybuzz that stuff
So then fizzybuzz left third and went to party
So then fizzybuzz left fifth and went to theclub
I argued that party was the same as nest with party
I argued that theclub was the same as nest with theclub
I thought that party was something
I thought that theclub was something else
I declared that frank was a letter
I told that ian was a letter
I declared that zack was a letter
I yelled that zack was a kljdaskljdfasklj
I screamed that bob was a blah blahblah
We declared that union was a letter
I declared that zack was a stuff
I declared that zack was a letter
I stormed off and whatever
I declared that frank was something
I declared that ian was something
I declared that zack was more stuff
I declared that zack was something
We refused to discuss further
I thought that theclub was something else
I screamed that bob was a letter
We declared that union was a letter
I declared that zack was a letter
I declared that zack was a letter
We refused to discuss further
I declared that my_car was a new line
So then fizzybuzz took cat and called itself fizzybuzz

The language should be turing complete now that it has all the basic operators, loops and conditional statements.

Should also be easy-ish to compile into C instead of Python eventually since all variables basically just C-like chars though I just don’t feel like doing that yet

Fizzbuzz is now used mainly by nerds to show off how they can solve it in the most obtuse ways possible but yeah, the original point was to be a dead simple weed-out test for the surprisingly large number of people who show up to interview for a programming job with all the right qualifications on paper and zero programming ability. I used to have to interview candidates for junior dev roles and I never used Fizzbuzz itself, but I used equivalently brainless questions and like 15% of people would just completely blank on them.

Yes. I interview developers and shockingly people fail things like that all the time.

My favorite though is one candidate that clearly memorized a fizzbuzz in C#, but then couldn't tell me what any single line was doing and also gave nonsense responses to literally every other question.

He was really banking that he'd be asked a fizzbuzz and nothing else, which is really weird because it's not THAT common of a question compared to like algorithm questions.

AITA for not quitting my job because my husband thinks my job isn't important?

quote:

My sister started a company last year. I was feeling stifled in my last career path and I wanted to do something different. I jumped in with my sister. It meant a massive pay cut and increase in responsibility. We can live comfortably off his income so we didn't change our lifestyle at all.

I am learning new things everyday. I love working with my sister. She is smart and talented. There is always a new challenge that we have to solve. I am doing things that I never imagined I could. The hours are longer but I love every second of it.

We were supposed to go out last week but I had to cancel because we had an issue with a vendor which needed to be dealt with. I apologized but he is very upset about it. I have had to prioritize the business a few times before but he has always been understanding. I usually get back home after he has gone to bed but he was waiting for me that day. He was stewing and he was really angry. He said I was being an errand girl for my sister and I should realize my own value. He said my job was an absolutely poo poo deal for our family as I was gone longer and we made less money.

He said he wanted me to quit my job and find something which paid better. I told him that I wouldn't be quitting. I loved what I do and I hated that he is undermining my work. He just stopped arguing with me and said we could talk about it later. I feel like an rear end in a top hat because this is literally the first time my husband is this angry and bitter. I have never seen him this upset. He is being very withdrawn and he is purposely working longer hours so we don't really see each other. I feel like I hosed up here. My husband is upset and hurt and I don't want to quit at all.

Quoth the Raven "I love the power glove. It's so bad..."
She said she doesnt remember my name, wtf?

Me and my gf have been together for 6months, she calls me by a few nicknames, I call her by some too but I never thought that she called me by those nicknames because she literally doesnt know my name. Im speechless. I was having a few doubts about a few things in our relationship, so I took advice from some people and I went on to talk to her, we sorted almost everything out and then I tried to lighten the conversation by telling her the name of a guy that sounded funny, I asked her if she thought my name was funny. She made excuses that she was feeling tired, tried to divert the conversation to a different topic but when I asked again she told me she doesnt know what my name is. I asked her if she was kidding and she said she was not. She left an hour or so ago and now Im genuinely having a WTF moment. She said it was because she was forgetful and doesnt remember names well. But how is that even possible, to "forget" your own bf's name whom she's been with for 6months.. Im more confused than sad. I've mentioned my name like a thousand times by now, she has met all my friends who call me by my name and she even heard my mom yell my name a dozen times everyday for a week when she came to visit us. I have no Idea how is this possible. She didnt even give any more explaination than "Im forgot" before leaving for her work. Should I be heartbroken or concerned about her mental health? This is my first relationship so I'm really trying to process this. She sounded so casual about it.. is this a common thing in relationships?

To recap: the daughter is in frequent communication, posts photos for her to look at, allows safe contact with the grandkids, and sends messages on holidays. The controlling stuff about the gifts and cards is insane. So many of these parents keep thinking that "if I don't send a card to my adult child who told me they never wanted to hear from me again last time we talked four hundred years ago then they'll think I'm a bad parent!" My late mother used to send me cards and now my dad doesn't send me cards and both are fine. Sending a card doesn't make you a good parent and not sending a card doesn't make you a bad parent. And if you do this sort of scorekeeping in relationships, you're already the loser. Because you're insane.

I can't imagine what it must be like living with a person like this.

Houses can sleep more than (normal) people think. Like for a big family do one christmas I was assigned to the single women/girls bed with my mom . . . and 3 other adult ladies I was somehow related to but didn't know. 5 to a double bed. I sleep hot and was also 12 and awkward, so I elected to sleep on the floor behind the bar in the basement. Every bedroom was packed. 2 or 3 kids to each single bed. There were people sleeping on couches and recliners. More affluent out-of-town relatives stayed in nearby motels. I don't know how long the whole thing lasted, at least 3 days but maybe a whole week, with more cousins arriving and leaving on different days.

That wasn't an annual thing. Ever few years someone would lose their mind and invite the whole clan. I hear the ones in the summer were a little better because you could camp out rather than pile in, but I never went to one of those.

AITA for yelling at my obsessed wife? posted:

Hello there, I’m currently typing this from my car, after my wife has told me she doesn’t want me near her right now. Hoping this thread will be a wake up call to her.

My wife (F33) is a big nerd, which I normally appreciate, but she is taking things way too far today. She took today off of work, so she could be up at 4AM to play her online game at launch. I didn’t wake up until about an hour ago (10:30, and she was still playing. I mentioned that I was Hungry, hoping we could make breakfast together , which we like to do together. She instead said that I should “order us something from doordash, im in the middle of a dungeon and may be a while.” I didn’t really wanna get takeout, because we had already discussed ordering pizza tonight for dinner, and that’s a lot of take out food in one day. I calmly explained this, and she got pissed and shrieked at me that she just wanted one weekend to focus on her video game. I said that it was unfair to our family for her to isolate all weekend, and she got even more mad, telling me that I have two hands and can feed the goddamn cat. I was in tears at this point, and I did raise my voice and said that I was worried she’s obsessed with this game and maybe she needs professional help. She threw her car keys at me and said that I need to get out of her face, that she’s works all the time and doesn’t ask for much, and I need to leave her be and get out of her face for a few hours.

I am truly concerned that she has become obsessed with this online game, and I’m hoping that maybe reading this thread will wake her up to it, but I might’ve been the AH too.

Edit: some additional info I forgot: ir isn’t just today, for the last few weeks she’s been hyping herself up for this. When the game got delayed, she MOVED HER VACATION time rather than just keep her previous day off and spend it with me. She’s been absolutely freaking out about this game and I don’t understand it and it scares me.

I like how "family" is just them and their cat. This guy sounds incredibly needy and annoying. Let the lady enjoy her game on launch day. For an MMO those first days can be fun since everyone is new, nothing is documented, and you get to work things out with other players in real time.

Edit: Holy poo poo this guy has a lot of replies and he's such a loving weenie.

quote:

The last time this happened was about 2 years ago, she spent a whole weekend holed up in her apartment )we didn’t live together at the time) but usually she doesn’t play much video games. Maybe a few hours a week.

quote:

Like I told someone else, she did this last time there was a big event in her game a few years ago. It just scares me. She’s a normal nerdy person, not a thick glasses 24/7 gamer. It scares me when she flips the switch and gets obsessed like this.

quote:

I know she reads this subreddit, I’m hoping this is a wake up call. Honestly, it scares me when she does this. Someone shouldn’t care that much for video games.
