Right, the monumental global fuckup that is the 'covid pandemic' comes with a large cost. You're proposing "let a lot of people die".

Care to show me where I proposed one loving thing?

It's just a fact that two years in, unless there's a clear path on how lockdowns would help lead to some semblance of normality, they'll see enough opposition to be basically worthless.

Big news about the status of the WA hospital system

current state of the WA health system: one of the drugs I need to live is no longer being manufactured, which is not really a fault of the WA health system. But one of the replacement drugs I am now on (which is less effective) is not considered an essential drug, which means WA is now completely out of stock. So now I am on a third, even less effective drug (so my drug load of this med has gone from 12 per day to 30 per day), until WA runs out of that and I guess I'll just die?

Look no point uselessly wishing for things we all know are never going to happen.

But yeah, the strict boarder closure one of the few good things the WA gov seems to of been able to do. So good for them over that.

Covidsafe's usage level is genuinely funny

I thought the Service Victoria, (and other states equivalents), app where you scan the QR code was what was being used for the contact tracing.

Now I find out there is a separate app I am supposed to have, and give consent for my info to be used?

At one point last year work directed us to have the Covid Safe app installed if we had work phones.

After about a month they didn't bother chasing that up considering how useless it was (and how much battery it used up, probably funneling our data to contractors)

Also it didn't work at all on iOS unless it was the app in focus, which is completely and utterly useless.

covidsafe was from the previous lockdown and nobody used it then either.

the state based checkin apps are better at contact tracing (if people use them correctly, which varies)

COVIDSafe would've been fine on the March 2020 level assumption that we were going to end up with widespread ongoing community transmission, but since we went down a different path entirely of stringent contact tracing, who cares. I mean yeah QR check-in compliance is wildly varying but that would have been true of COVIDSafe too.
