Pretty sure Microsoft is making Bethesda fix poo poo. There was a Fallout New Vegas update a little while back. And Fallout 76 is... improving. That doesn't mean they'll make another good game in either series again, though.

I played it for maybe an hour or so but the spreading-decay hand/arm and permanently losing mechanic made me not want to invest more time in it and end up totally screwed.

Senua was so good even if it wasn't a particularly good game. They collaborated with actual people with schizophrenia and psychosis to make sure they portrayed those symptoms accurately I really liked that game.

Also you have to sign into your microsoft account to play. Which is dumb, but at least a microsoft account is about as ubiquitous as a google account, and not some weird ubisoft junk. Except it turns out I have four microsoft accounts? M_Gargantua is such an old OG Xbox account that it doesn't have an email associated to it MGargantua is associated to my old email my new email/O365/functional microsoft account doesn't have any gamertag associated to it and I have one for O365 through my .edu address too apparently. And I can't find a way to merge them.

I bought an Xbox S. Game Pass fuckin owns. Playstation might have the better exclusives and maybe even overall game library but it's not better than what is basically Netflix for video games (and the Playstation equivalent, PSNow or whatever, has been rear end since day one).

Gamepass does own. I'm tinkering with Evil Genius 2 lately. Mostly playing the new Warzone map though, usually crushing poo poo in Plunder (it's duos with $2m limit right now), but that's not a gamepass game and free anyhow. The S is a hell of a solid upgrade from an xbone.

All the versions of BF2042 on steam are $20 off, so I grabbed it. Played about 30 minutes, enjoying it so far. Only hiccup is when matchmaking put me in a game that had about 40 seconds left.

I *WILL* some day pay off my entire debt in shipbreaker. Just not until after it's finally released and I can stop having my progress zeroed out. Fun game, love zen-ing out and tossing much, much more poo poo into the barge than they expect because "gently caress it someone else's problem I'm on the clock" just not a fan of unlocking all the certs for a third or fourth time.

That's decent price and it's pretty mindless fun if all you want to do is launch a game and hop into a match in something that isn't a battle royal type game. It's not a bad game, it's just not a great game compared to BF 2, 3, 4 and BC2. To put it another way, when I used to game 50+ hours a week, BF2042 blows. When I now have 30 minutes a night, it's a decent option to hop and shoot mostly other players.

I've played quite a bit over the weekend, and I'm kind of torn. I like every map I've played. I don't know when the last time that happened was. Portal is, in fact, neat. The game is far less buggy than I expected...I've had one crash (a few minutes ago), and twice some weird ADS problem that goes away after death. I like the engine a lot. What I dislike is the blatant ripoff of Apex Legends and the stupid character catchphrases. That whole specialist nonsense is just a waste of time. The scoreboard is absolute dogshit. As far as I can tell, there's no way to switch squads (so if your 3 bros are all AFK, sucks to be you), figure out k:d, or even see how many times you've died. Every time I hit "tab" I'm just instantly in a bad mood because I'm used to how every other BF game was. Gameplay itself is really fun, but the wrapping they put it in is just so irritating I don't know if this will replace BF4 for me or not yet. Oh, and still no official notice on whether the game will ever have joystick support...what the gently caress.

Removing k:d from the game’s displays sounds like a net gain, especially for a game like Battlefield where entire matches can be ruined by having too many k:d tryhards pretending to be Sniper Wolf off on the edges of the map

Warzone doesn't have an overall scoreboard for everyone in the match, only those on your team. Which is nice when I'm repeatedly getting slaughtered playing plunder, but not so great when I'm curious how I did at collecting money compared to the rest of the match. It's still a little hosed up since the pacific map, but it's not booting me at the end of every match anymore.

I'm not really a k:d tryhard but I do like to try to keep it above 1. I think I'm going to end up back with BF4...I can't kill an afternoon with this game, I just get annoyed by all the dumb poo poo (ANGEL DOES IT AGAIN), the AFK or just terrible squadmates that I can't do anything about besides quit the loving match, and the wonky attachment system. I like the hotkey to swap stuff, but poo poo I've unlocked and equipped isn't showing up half the time in-game. The gameplay is fun, but I spend so much time fighting everything it's wrapped in that I just get fed up after 2 or 3 matches. Edit: They made it feel like a console game. K:D tactic: Play as the tank gunner in Hell Let Loose. Just fire HE any time you think maybe you saw something or if a hedge row doesn't have friendlies in it, or if you see a house, or if you heard something maybe. Walk out having positively seen 10-ish infantry kills, but with 25+ infantry kills in reality based on all the dudes you killed in bushes or rooms you never saw. Bonus if you fire blind, and see a stahlhelm go sailing through the air afterward. The downside: die in a tank and spend 5 minutes getting back to the fight whereas infantry just respawn like roaches at the front lines.

Foxhole is working pretty good for that for me. If you got ten minutes, hop on and shoot green mans. If you got longer organize an artillery op and blast some fools over the horizon or go mining for great justice.
