Piers Anthony has a horror novel called Firefly. It's not so much about a giant killer firefly as it a novel length defense of pedophilia. It's super gross. And there are no giant killer fireflies. I think it was just some alien goo.

It opens with “bombing innocent civilians is OK if it forces their government to join the war on your side”, somehow I made it past that but I just couldn’t get past the chapter where Rico gets really horny over public executions.

I read a lot of Piers Anthony but it was always kind of weird. Battle Circle, Adept books were okayish. I noped out after Bio of a Space Tyrant. Xanth were there but I stopped reading them after I was like ten.

The thing you young folks don't realize is that Gor was the first easily-findable mainstream BDSM porn. Along those lines, Fifty Shades is pretty terrible, but it was the first mass-market BDSM porn aimed at women that they could read electronically. That was a big selling point: you could read your copy without people mocking you (or getting mad at you) for your reading tastes. Really laying it on to make the pedo a tragic figure rather than a monstrous one.
