Nintendo likes to do games where you team up with former foes to fight a new evil. I hope that's the case here.

Ah yes, thanks. Kind of curious how the fight’s going to work considering you have a lot more room to maneuver in 3D

In comic book terms there's "gods" like the Celestials and Asgardians, there's Titans like Thanos, and then there's cosmic entities like Death, Entropy, and Infinity far beyond all of them, and then at the center of everything is the most powerful being, Jack Kirby.

The name is possibly just a coincidence.

Look, Thanos was from a planet called Titan, the reason he was super strong and could touch infinity stones is that he was actually an Eternal, and furthermore....

So what's this game like? I generally like card games so I'm intrigued, though I don't have any nostalgia for 90s-era fighting games.

It's fairly light and breezy compared to more resource management heavy games like Magic, but that's why I like it. You play an character card every turn, assuming one of three slots is open, and you can use action cards for various effects. The turn after a character enters a ring, they can attack. The other player can use a character to counter, and the character with the most health wins, but takes damage. If the card isn't countered, it does direct damage to the player. Once the opposing player is out of HP, you win.

The framing device for the game is wandering around the SNK and Capcom home town of Osaka, visiting Plaza Capcom and Neo Geo Land, which are (were) real places, often playing against real people like Yoshiki Okamoto and Shinji Mikami. It's quite the snapshot of where those companies were in 1999.

I wasn't a big fan of fighting games at the time it came out, but holy hell did it send me down a path. I bought it and a NGPC on a whim with some extra Christmas money because I generally liked Capcom and noticed Jill and Megaman on the cover, and eighteen months later I was buying a used Neo Geo off of eBay.

Mmm that sounds like Pokemon TCG on the GBC but with fighters. I really enjoyed that though the real game never gripped me. Would this make for a nice substitute or is it too different? Like I don't generally like deck-builders but that was different somehow?

The Switch needs more racing sims. Snagged Burnout Paradise on the eShop sale for $8.99 US but after playing Forza Horizons on my PC I am spoiled. Are there any racing games on the Switch with a good amount of collectable cars that allow you to customize them as well?

No matter how one loves, there are always different aims. Love can take a great many forms, whatever the era.
I'm glad that Nintendo spied on me and witnessed me gingerly and carefully avoiding doing any harm to Waddle Dees in recent Kirby games and determined that we should actually protect them.

There's that Hotwheels game that came out last year. Seems to have some DLC/Season Pass bloat to it though.

They've still got a year of trickling out one N64 game per month before they have to think about any other additions to the service. (Luckily Paper Mario came out first)

Not sure, really, never played it on the GBC or IRL, but it's certainly a contemporary. It's definitely a game geared towards the single-player experience though. No ramping up with low power cards to make it fair; you pull out the heavy hitters immediately and win in turn three if you start with something crazy like Krauser, Akuma, and Yashiro. The Japan-only sequel on NGPC balanced it out a little better.
