Med staff on board, med staff everywhere they go, meals (and booze) included, a private room, and folks to talk to if they want. Their general attitude works for that environment, but they said they'd quit at the first sign of major health problems. Eh, I can't hate it. Better have your ducks in a row and a backup plan waiting. They did say they charged everything to an AmEx card, where they'll move hell and high water to bring you insulin or get you off the boat.

I'm really tired of reading "live your life as though you won't get a tomorrow" and other dumb bullshit like that. People who want to live as long as possible and who are being careful and safe are not cowards.

That's because you're a thinking, caring human being. Not trying to get into personal poo poo here, but you didn't have to follow the trajectory that's made you the person you are today. I didn't either. None of us do, really. [For the record: Captain Log is a stand up dude. The best!] These motherfuckers have totally lost the plot on that. "My parents beat the fuckin' tar out of me and I turned out fine." "My kids won't even talk to me anymore. Where did I go wrong?" "No family this year, but I've replaced that with people who never argue. They think the same way I do, and I think the same." Even the most batshit person I met through drugs and drinking ain't mean in the same way as these folks. Every good thing that happens to someone is a slight against what good they think should just come to them. Narcissism writ large. Blinking lights, neon, marquees spelling out, "Me. Myself. I." Think about that for a moment. Alcoholics, heroin junkies, and crackheads, when pressed, don't think like these Freepers and Q-anon fucks. Resentment, pain, trauma, these people think it needs to be visited on others to make a "fair" world.
