Oh, fun ADHD update. I finally got a share agreement with the NHS for continuity prescriptions last year, but went off the lisdexamfetamine from November as the crashes were utterly horrific.

I held off contacting my private doc as its 200 quid a pop for a 15 minute consult but caved right before Christmas and paid out of pocket to be put back on the lowest dose of methylphenidate at 10mg which does gently caress all, but at least doesn't make me want to literally kill myself.

Had another consult yesterday evening so I thought I'd ring up the NHS autism center during the day that I've been on the waiting list for 8 months for and see how they're doing. I found out that 8 months is the projected wait they had for a diagnosis, but for medication its 12 to 24 loving months. I skipped the diagnosis wait by paying for private, but I'm just stuck here for the next year in limbo.

In the private consult in the evening i got told the max they're legally allowed to increase my dosage by is 10mg per month and the max daily dosage is 100mg which based on my tolerance is likely what I'll need. So to get the med dosage to where it needs to be I'm going to have to pay for medication out of pocket each time AND for at least 9 more consults so... Yay near 3 grand.

I hate how lovely mental health care is here.

I feel for you Mebh.

I have the most obvious ADHD there ever was (they even made me see a shrink at school, but I was there just before people started getting diagnosed with it a bunch) but never got diagnosed officially because the waiting list to see a specialist was 2 years long the one time I tried (peak austerity).

I just self medicate with coffee and zealous circadian rhythm habits, there must be loads of people out there like me, and many who struggle much much more without help. I have no idea if it's worth trying to deal with it privately or not.

genuine question for any tory knowers: what happens if graham brady is less than honest about the letter count?

is there any sort of formal check and balance on that or is it purely informal becasue we know MPs lie all the time about whether they've sent a letter in or not. seems like behind the process he wields huge and easily corruptible personal discretion over whether a challenge is heard or not

Also there's nothing to say leninists by definition have to end up gulaging anarchists. I think the historical problem has usually been the perception, sometimes justified, that anarchist elements in newly established communist countries have threatened to put the whole project at risk by playing directly into the hands of counter-revolutionaries. If you're at a crisis point, in the midst of a civil war and directly under siege by the forces of capital, nothing is going to get everyone killed faster than idealistic anti-authoritarianism. There's a reason there have been basically zero successful anarchist 'states' (I know, I know, but for lack of a better term). I see zero reason why a compromise wouldn't theoretically be possible once things settled down, but it would require good faith work from both sides and, most importantly, would require that anarchists accepted some form of central authority at least during the transitional phase.

Anarchists in Spain did work with government during the Civil War. And we know how that went down, the USSR decided that destroying their left wing enemies was a higher priority than winning the war.

I feel for you. I'm on a list to be assessed via Right To Choose (Psych UK) and I put my referral through in August, my appointment is May 9th. Then there's a wait of ??? for titration and meds etc. The NHS waiting list around here is 1-2 years for the assessment I think, no idea what the wait is for the treatment after that.

After GP did my August referral to both Psych UK and the in-NHS assessment place, just before Christmas I finally got an NHS letter that was basically saying "Okay, fill out these forms and we'll get you on the waiting list". I just didn't bother. 3-4 months just to get the forms to start the process? Literally no point, I'll just wait for Psych UK, thanks.

It's hard to not see the state of MH care (or just general wait times overall) in this country and be annoyed at the NHS, but I know it's not really the fault of basically anyone in the NHS itself.

It's especially crazy how much problems with executive function and motivation are associated with ADHD and autism spectrum disorders, and yet if at any point you forget to chase up a form or miss an appointment they just go 'ah well, they're obviously not that bothered' and drop the process.

Similar with depression, which is probably more alarming. This person is on antidepressants and didn't turn up for the appointment they made about not being able to handle the stress of their life. Ah well, must have gotten better or something.

Yeah, I mean the anarchists, broadly, did support the revolution, right up to the point that it became clear that "all power to the Soviets" was an empty slogan and what they meant was all power to the Bolshevik Central Committee. Which is clearly incompatible with even those who didn't immediately turn on the Bolsheviks like the Left SRs and Menshevik-Internationalists.

As soon as the White's were evacuated from Crimea the Bolsheviks turned on the Mahknovischna. By the time of the Kronstadt rebellion the civil war against the whites was over everywhere but the far east and parts of the Caucasus and Central Asia. Painting it as happening in the throes of the counter-revolution is at best ignorant

Yeah. It took me a long time to even really entertain the idea of possibly having ADHD and get round to calling my GP to get an assessment booked in. Though I think because my brain is excited at the possibility of Actual Solutions to my terrible brain problems this is the one thing that I keep remembering to check the status of, and to keep writing down things that occur to me as possibly being ADHD.

The depression one for sure though. I had a self referral counselling place mark me as discharged because the woman I was talking to went on holiday for a few weeks and I missed the phone call from the next person who was going to pick my case up. Rang back a few weeks later asking when my next appointment was and they were just like "Oh, you're down as no longer needing to talk to us". Luckily I've never been in a state where I self-harmed.

Honestly I can't be arsed getting into a big debate today, my point was just that co-operation is theoretically possible. The Kronstadt rebellion for example was I think completely misjudged in timing (though not necessarily intent), the later treatment of anarchists in the USSR was also counterproductive and wrong. I'm not really interested in relitigating any of this, just suggesting that political relations between the two groups don't always have to replicate these historical events.
