I like the Honda-E too but there's no way it would work in the US. Just look at how hard people are making GBS threads on the MX-30 which is basically the same idea: too much money for too little range.

The Honda is perfect at what they've built it to be - a characterful, tech-loaded, premium compact city EV. I wish it was cheaper and faster and had better range cos that would be cool but it just isn't and was never going to be. There are plenty of places in the US where it could work but I suspect any decisions about where it's sold come down to capacity right now more than anything else. RHD markets like Aust and NZ don't even get it except via the grey market.

The Mazda on the other hand is expensive and slow and poo poo range and weirdly compromised by the dumb doors and has nothing else going for it, even in Japan it seems weird, let alone in the US.

Mach-E is a waste of a good name for an actual EV Mustang, and when they had Fusion, a perfectly good EV family car name right there.

I would just like to say thank you to Sega for going all out throwing millions away on designing and producing insane arcade machines, absolutely the GOAT in that respect.

I worked at a Namco arcade and spent many shifts playing Initial D and Wangan Midnight.

I cannot believe you didn't learn the true joy of Initial D which is owning people in a Cappuccino and them being very not-mad about it.

I never played any of the moving car racing games in arcades, but I have very fond memories of the normal SEGA racing games (SEGA Rally Championship?) where you sat in a basic fixed cockpit and drove a rally Castrol Celica.

That was the weirdest thing about the game that I found. The Cappuccino seemed faster than the other cars...?! I had more fun in the Capo than any of the supposed 'better' cars.

It's still a fairly meh game though, Outrun 2 is king of blue sky, high speed drifty games. Weaving through high speed traffic following a friend into a huge sweeping corner, chucking your 'rari sideways and drifting within inches of his door, each zone changing drastically as you whip through the sections making your own journey up as easy or as hard as you like... It's just the stupidest thing and so much fun. If you've never had the pleasure of playing it and find it at an arcade, give it a shot because it's just so good.

I had a twin cabinet of Daytona USA that I got as unworking set for a song, something like $200... I replaced a couple boards and fixed it.

I had to keep it at work at our warehouse because it was so big. When we had to move I needed to sell them and let me tell you, everyone thought they were awesome, but not so awesome they had a chance to own them. Was not easy to sell. I think I sold them for something like $500 so I might have broken even by the time I had my repair costs in it.

I know you're talking about a video game, but the thing about those roads is that you're going so slow that power doesn't matter nearly as much as weight. We're talking 30mph max before my butthole starts clenching. The other thing is that since the speed limits in Japan are so low in general, you can have super short gearing so even 60hp kei cars can have decent pickup even before considering their insanely low weight.

I drove an S660 through Hakone and never once felt like I needed more power. I even hit its maximum speed of ~85mph on the highway and it wasn't too bad getting there.

Yeah when I rented an R34 GTR at Fun2Drive in Hakone I hardly got out of second, maybe some sections in 3rd gear if I didn't want to keep the engine in super high revs . Those roads are so tight that it was really surprising to me how fast the guides were through them.

I still don't understand how they knew there was no oncoming traffic. I'm absolutely going to go back there and rent the NSX or FD RX7 if this pandemic ever ends.

The R33 GTR I rented through Omori was an absolute piece of poo poo. Boost cut issues, one of the fender liners flew off during a highway pull (lol), and I almost binned it in the rain at Hakone. Cool experience, but goddamn, stick to the newer cars with the rental companies that aren't Fun2Drive.

I also absolutely loved the S660 I rented through them (Omori) and took to Twin Ring though. Going up there to visit the Honda Collection Hall is pretty worth it if you're in to Hondas at all.

It is the best/worst way to accomplish what they needed to do. The 6 has more than enough power to tow that combo, and they've kept the tongue weight as low as posssible. Braking from speed is probably a loving adventure. I wouldn't trust the back axle of that trailer afterwards though. A horrible idea, well executed. 4/5 on the redneck scale of effluency (RSOEL- arse'ole).
