NFT's are just another kind of coin (or token, if you will). nobody's buying NFT's for ~the art~, they're buying them for the same reason people buy bitcoin: because it costs money

The Management posted:hi thread, long time no see. Some of the people putting together NFT "collection" projects are rich and well connected. I assume almost all of them engage in wash trading. It's manufactured clout and FOMO. The "Bored Ape Yacht Club" tokens theoretically allow you entry to special events: https://www.theverge.com/22824387/bored-ape-yacht-club-nft-party-new-york Bullshit like this swirls around NYC with some regularity, this one just escaped into the wilds of the internet.

i like the new thing in nfts where they say if they sell enough they'll make the best fighting game/mmorpg/fps ever made that uses the nfts. or for the more discerning buyer there's one that says that they'll make a casino where gambling ape (GAPE) holders get 70% of the revenue

i think there's also a not-insignificant amount of "it's expensive, it must be good, why would it be expensive if it's not good" going on way less than the money laundering and poo poo but you can kinda see this thinking pop up in monkey av idiots trying to twitter post away the little voice in the back of their head saying "dude this monkey cost more than a house"

I've always wondered how many humans have access to the gigantic wallets at crypto exchanges like CoinBase. Surely there's some handful of DevOps nerds who could just gently caress off to an island with millions... right?

didn't it come out a while ago that like, the biggest winners on any given daily fantasy sports betting company were all just employees at a competing company and vice versa cuz they could just look at the internal secret statistics i assume that happens even more in crypto, except they probably don't bother to even do it on a competing company's exchange or anything they just do it right on the one they work for. and it make number go up, so who cares!!

I have a strong suspicion that a lot of the volume of trades on places like Coinbase is moving the same stuff around to make it look a lot more active than it really is.
