They can, but sub white nationalists for religious dominionists.

and you don't vote for Prime Ministers.

This one goes two ways though. You do have people surprised that Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn aren't on the ballot paper somewhere, because they think it's like voting for the president.

But you also have the "wellactuallys" who will explain at length that you're voting for your preferred representative in parliament AND NOTHING ELSE, as if parties and cabinets and PMs aren't a thing (not saying you're doing this). When in practice, anyone who cast a vote for a conservative candidate in 2019 was voting for Bodgebob to be PM,

I feel like this could be one of those galaxy brain memes, with progressively more understanding of the political system. With the last one being "move to your preferred party leader's constituency so you can vote for the prime minister"

Mm. Maybe. Oddly enough estate agents and letting agents always have an incentive to talk up how wild the market is, and the sort of people who write and read the Telegraph tend to like hearing about they, being the landlords, have the power now too, so you pretty much always get stories like this outside of truly exceptional circumstances (like sudden global pandemics).

This line in particular - 'These soaring figures mean that the collapse in rents at the start of the pandemic have been reversed, with prices now 3pc higher than at the beginning of 2020.' You guys at the Telegraph have heard of inflation, yes? Which is currently at 5.4%?

Inflation is a number that should be 2% and sometimes you need to point out when labour governments make it not 2% but it doesn't mean anything, silly :)

Anyway why aren't the nurses grateful for their pay rise??

The only thing I could find was a Reddit thing about how the earlier battletech thing was sullied by allowing you to choose pronouns and had a Muslim main character, whereas the newer mechwarrior 5 didn't have those things so was unwokely ok for consumption. It's literally a bunch of reverse snowflakes

I did read a take on SA that the Clans were an offensive melange of native American tribes, Mongol empire, American football teams, and the US military. I think that's a bit lacking in nuance since the subtext of the fiction is that the guy who founded them was a fascist idiot who cobbled the idea together.

Idly wondering:

If you are forced to apply for jobs you don't want, do the people at DWP check what you put in your applications or get feedback as to why you weren't picked?
I mean if you were totally upfront and put stuff like VVV on your covering letter/ email or near the top of your cv, would you still get UC or are they going to simply assign people to any old job?

"Unfortunately, I do not have a driving licence or access to a car and rely on public transport. Having checked bus timetables and the time taken to get from the bus stop to the workplace, I would not be able to arrive at work before 1015am and would need to leave promptly at 3pm. In addition, there is no public transport available on weekends or bank holidays so I am unable to do anything but daytime shifts between these hours.

"I am very over-qualified for this job and only fair to let you know that should you employ me, I will be constantly on the lookout for something more fitting my skills and experience"

"I do not have the skills and experience required for this job, but I'm sure with enough support and funding for training courses, I could be up to speed within 6 months."

Years ago when I was looking for work, I applied for and was offered an interview for a microbiology assistant role a few towns over. During the interview and after I told them I would be relying on public transport they said the role would be moving to "shifts" and there would be no way I'd be able to get to work on time. They stopped the interview there and then so as to not waste my time (and theirs).

Shame, seemed like a decent job.

This was part of my "Job Seekers Agreement" with the DWP to seek work within 90 minutes travelling from my home.

Battletech in general even pre Clan has some very....80s stereotypes being of that vintage originally (oh god the Evil Space Japanese Samurai Who Do Warcrimes) but that isn't particularly played up in MW5. You just shoot lots of robbits.
