I loving hate the salary expectation question. It's always a trap, either you go to high and potentially price yourself out of the job or you go low and undervalue yourself. There's videos around saying "just turn the question back on them by asking their salary range for the position! Bing bong, easy" I attempted this when I got my last job and the HR lady just absolutely refused to give a figure until I stated my expectation. Luckily my mate got me in for the job interview(the only real way to get anywhere in life) and I knew what he was getting paid so stated that figure and then refused to budge when they tried to low ball me. gently caress HR and gently caress the hiring process

It has happened to me so often that I've pitched a proposal for a project and the people hiring me are like "Okay, we accept your proposal but please send us a new invoice where you double the artist fee because you're lowballing yourself", cause I suck at estimating how much my labour is worth but I live in a reasonable country with payment standards and work in a friendly industry.
