stumbled upon an album i really like but am trying to pin down which bands vocals these sound like https://youtu.be/3ChDUgOeTQM i know theyre pretty typical, but the little idiosyncrasies point to one band in particilar. or im imagining things, which is possible. best match i can come up with is early pestilence and cynic demos but still not sure if thats what i was thinking of. also holy hell its not often i fall in love with an album on first listen e: lol yeah every track is a loving banger god drat Gio fucked around with this message at 16:59 on Feb 2, 2022 |

Hulk Krogan posted:Yeah it's wild to think of starting a little record shop with your wife, booking some shows for local bands, and somehow ending up responsible for launching the career of a band like Metallica. Metallica hardly makes it into my frequent listens these days, but god drat how many musicans have ever put together a streak of 4 amazing albums in a row like they did at the start. Kill em all to justice is a pretty unique achievement.

Is anybody looking forward to the new AEVITERNE album (The Ailing Facade) ? It comes out in March and is on bandcamp. I've bought the only song they have on it so far (Denature) and it's scary stuff, even for me. Reminds me of a harder/psychedelic Immolation. https://aeviterne.bandcamp.com/album/the-ailing-facade Spacegrass fucked around with this message at 21:27 on Feb 2, 2022 |

I'm a fan of SikTh if you want some good djent. Very stop/start thought so depends on how much you like that I suppose. Also lol that Metal Archives refuses to list any "djent" bands on there, was very confused when I couldn't find a listing for SikTh and then saw multiple forums arguments about it Imagine going on an internet forum in this day and age

I like all the individual genres and whatnot but 9 times out of 10 that sort of quirky genre mashup metal falls super flat for me. Glad people dig it though. Enjoying things is cool.

Sometimes it sounds really cool and other times it sounds like Imagine Dragons. It's also never quite as hybridized as I would like it to be. Reminds me of how Panopticon get sold as "bluegrass meets black metal" but those two sides are almost entirely separate.
