I thought it was confirmed that they were aging everyone and Bobby was born in 1985

Bobby is a bit older than me and this perfectly tracks as I was too young to get the show when it came out.

Ageing everyone up is what got me interested in a reboot in the first place. It's what I wanted out of the original Beavis and Butthead reboot and thankfully they're fulfilling that promise with that one's second reboot.

I'd be fine with them scaling it so that Bobby was born in 1990 though. The show started in 1997 but I feel like it's more representative of the 2000s than it did the 90s.

I'm looking at it as more of a special than a full reboot. A 1 season look into how things went a nice revisit. That's all I want. I think a full 4-5 season show could be a bad move, though it could work. Really depends what they do with the characters.

I'd be happy with a movie or 6 episode mini season.

Bobby will probably be an improv teacher who takes advantage of his students financially and promises them fame and uses them as a captive audience for his terrible comedy.

Why? What's wrong with giving it a shot?

I can't think of a popular animated show where the characters had a chance to realistically age and Mike Judge has a pretty solid hit to miss ratio through his career. I usually like his stuff and doubt he'd do it if he didn't think there were some solid ideas to build on and mine for material. Maybe I'm wrong and it's just the lure of a big paycheck for an old guy past his prime but I fail to see the harm if Judge and the writers have some decent ideas on how to pull it off in a way that's humorous. The characters are totally established and well written already so just project them out, switch up the context and write good some jokes. Use GH and a few new characters that are his friends to introduce something new.

Doesn't seem like some comedic brass ring that's hopelessly out of reach to me and like, at worse, it would just be mediocre. It's not a lame attempt at a spin off like Boomhauer: Texas Ranger. A lot has changed since the show's heyday but a lot of the politics that drove it and provided context are, if anything, more magnified now and dropping these people into our modern bullshit driven society seems like it has some potential to be funny, in spite of some lovely ideas that were posted here (including mine).

Trickiest thing to me is how to handle the dead actors (Murphy and Petty) in a way that doesn't seem cheap or stupid.

I wish Mission Hill had gotten a chance to do this but it was not popular and didn't get the chance to.

Venture Bros has done it to some extent.

Only other one I can think of off hand is Legend of Korra. Not just the characters from Last Airbender being older, but several of the children age up over the course of the show's 3 seasons. You had a little bit of that in Last Airbender too, but nothing major.

This will work best if they at no point realize that they time travelled. Like they show up to school as if nothing happened, they don't realize that Stewart is now middle aged, don't understand why MTV doesn't play music anymore, etc.

Looking at a flat screen and being all "that's not a TV. Hehhe..uhhhh..hehe. Where's the REAL TV, dumbass?"And then..."whoa. check it out, Beavis" and being transfixed before they go on a Netflix binge, discover PS5 graphics and internet porn.

I don't need to see them having space adventures or anything but I think if they write it correctly, B&B could actually make it where they kind of fit in into modern stupidity and current pop culture tropes to where they can make friends.

But they still won't score.

Thanks to whoever posted the 5 hour MTV B&B critique montage too

Stewart ends up with Daria, 2 kids, maybe 3. B&B somehow cause their divorce.

Maximart guy was shot and paralyzed after getting robbed by Todd. Still works at Maxi mart.

Van driessen is just about to retire, having saved up enough money, but then B&B come back, somehow cause him to lose all his money, and he needs to keep working.

Mc Dicker is retired and has either Alzheimers but still somehow remembers B&B when they come to visit/gently caress with him, or he's in a psychiatric ward also as a result of them and they come and gently caress with him

Todd is just getting out of jail for jacking the maximart and shooting maximart dude.

Buzzcut is retired, and happens to meet B&B on the street. Beats their asses just because.

Slade is letting Todd crash at his place and they're planning some sort of All or nothing heist and B&B somehow unwittingly foil it. Todd and Slade either get 20+ years, or are killed by police during the crossfire

Lolita and Tanqueray have like 7 kids each, at least one or two fathered by Todd and Slade, they still live in a trailer park.

B&B's mothers make an appearance, at least in voice, if not on screen.

Perhaps I've just missed it, but I see everyone talking about boomhauer, dale, bill etc.... in the last several pages, but what about Connie, Kahn and Minh?

Did Bobby and Connie lose it to each other, she gets knocked up and kahn sends her off to boarding school?

Or they got married, separated, but are now co-parents on good speaking terms?

Connie absolutely got out of dodge. Did she get to Harvard? I think so. She would eventually become as opportunistic as her parents. She developers some of these tendencies during the course of the show: Betraying her principles when a popular girl compliments her at one point, posing as prom queen for the yearbook after Joseph reveals that nobody will get the yearbooks until after graduation, that one episode where she interns with Peggy at her real estate job. I think if anyone has a big return to Arlen after being away for years, it's her. Maybe she had some bad luck in Silicon Valley and has to move back home while she financially recovers.

They'd have to recast the Souphansousan family.

More Bobby job ideas:

*Megalomart opens a warehouse/distribution center in Arlen and Bobby gets a job as a picker. He runs into Chuck Mangione hiding in the warehouse and they work together to take the place down from the inside. The twist: Chuck may or may not be a fatigue induced hallucination.

*Bobby becomes a staff writer/video personality for a Babylon Bee style conservative comedy website. He brings back his white heritage humor and has a sock puppet that makes "I identify as a garter belt" jokes.

*Bobby becomes a independently contracted content moderator for Myspace (still the leading social network in the KotHiverse). He also runs a support group for his coworkers who have been traumatized by the shocking content they see every day where he helps them without giving them any advice.

*Connie burns out midway through her Freshman year at Harvard, moves back to Arlen, and marries Bobby. They became Arlen's leading lifestyle youtubers/tiktokers but their career is put into jeopardy when their daughter, Khan III, turns 10 and realizes her life is a peepshow. She has Anthony the social worker put her in the custody of Hank and Peggy.

*After a string of unsuccessful romantic encounters Bobby apprentices under Boomhauer. He then markets Boomhauer's techniques and becomes an internet seduction influencer a la Mystery. Secretly still unsuccessful with the ladies.

*Larson Pork Products opens up an Impossible Pork factory/lab in Arlen and hires Bobby as the lead grader. Bobby eventually discovers that the machinery, still contaminated with Trip Larson's DNA, is actually producing impossible long pig.

*Sharpshooter for Arlen PD SWAT team. Also teaches women's self defense classes.
