So I read this thing that said even though trucks have gotten bigger their towing capacity and such has pretty much remained the same. Is this true? I figure this thread would know Also we got a thread title change request and I wanted to know whether y'all wanted a thread title update or you're cool with this one. Happy to change it to whatever y'all would like or you can keep it EDIT: I may have asked this before (trucks) but my memory is awful so apologies if I did Seth Pecksniff fucked around with this message at 23:45 on Feb 20, 2022 |

ATM Cave in this case stands for Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave and if you’re ever in belize it’s a crazy way to spend a day they just let tourists in to walk around with the mayan pottery and skeletons. Most of them have crushed skulls tho so that one is the most photogenic.

I figure this thread would know Gas mileage, especially for diesels, has gotten a lot better in the last 20 years so inefficiency isn’t standing still (they’re still way behind cars). I think towing capacity has a lot to do with weight distribution and there is a certain point where you have to move to weird hitch mechanisms or more wheels to get more trailer.

It is a number on the spec sheet so usually there's some theoretical combination of trim and accessories where the towing capacity is incrementally better than last year's maximum. But no, it hasn't increased in proportion with how much the size of the vehicle has increased.

Towing capacity isn't really the driving force behind pickups getting bigger. It is demand from suburban consumers who rarely haul anything larger than a Costco run. They want the bigger trucks so they get made.

The article didn't say and the survivor who was with him didn't seem to know, just that whatever the problem was it wasn't with his equipment (which seems weird as the diver who didn't make it had just switched between his rebreather and emergency supply). Maybe an emotional reaction to seeing the first body plus nitrogen intoxication made him do something dumb?

I got hit by a lifted truck a few months ago. Nothing serious, just sorta bounced off the hood but landed on my feet somehow. The Karen got out of the truck and said "I'm so sorry, you were in my blind spot!" Apparently directly in front of the truck is a blind spot now.

Like if you have really heavy, really wide cylinders and you want to make it one cylinder, how does fusing them together with welds on the perimeter work? Im sure you grind down the stuff that sticks out so what's holding it together? Are the two faces of the cylinders that touch not fused? Man gently caress I dont know how of this works its just magic rotary friction welding is one way I know (and have seen videos of). I think you need to machine then joined workpiece after, and you need a pretty specialized machine. i think you can also laser weld certain pieces like that, again in a rotary welding machine
