Jordan Love has looked so awful in his limited time it made them re-sign their aging QB for a gargantuan contract. Darnold wasn't that bad. Love doesn't get the benefit of the doubt of "it was the Jets" either

I don't QUITE agree with that, I think he's been just mediocre but we haven't seen him enough to draw a meaningful conclusion. I mean, what is it, one and a half games or something like that? Would we normally judge a rookie permanently before he's even played two games? However this extension says pretty clearly that the Packers, who know him best, don't believe in him. Yeah obviously he's worse than Rodgers, but I think if it was even close they would've at least considered trying to take advantage of his rookie deal years. This deal makes that first round pick of Love look so, so bad.

Let's be honest with ourselves, Higgins would've been another receiver that Rodgers just absolutely refused to throw to.

Yeah like people mentioned guys like Higgins, Jordyn Brooks, Xavier McKinney, Kyle Duggar, Chase Claypool, Logan Wilson, Antonio Gibson etc. came off the board shortly after. They also gave up their fourth rounder to move up to get him. Yet he hasn't provided anything you couldn't have gotten from a 2-4 million per year deal with some no name backup. MJeff posted:Let's be honest with ourselves, Higgins would've been another receiver that Rodgers just absolutely refused to throw to. I actually think Rodgers is relatively correct in certain ways about who he throws to. He doesn't like throwing to guys that drop a lot of passes and kind of suck in general. I think he'd love Higgins and he's exactly what Rodgers has wanted there for a long time. I still don't think this deal will do anything to make Rodgers any more happy if they don't win the super bowl next year, and I expect us to be hearing all this same poo poo again then.

In 2021, I'd put a negative TD/INT ratio, sub-60 completion %, and 6.6 Y/A below "mediocre." I have to admit I was thinking Love was a third-year player rather than a second-year player last season, but still, those were pretty woeful performances and he's not a rookie. If you just need a body for competition, I'd rather there's like 8 or 9 guys on free agency that will do. If you want a young backup that might have upside, I'd rather swing a deal for Minshew, Hundley, or Heneicke.
