I mean it made sense with Onward because that was right at the start of the lockdowns. But the last Spiderman hit theaters first, just seems odd Disney didn't put Turning Red into theaters too.

I saw Soul in the theater. I completely missed Luca & Onward, and only just saw Encanto at home. I think I may have aged out of Disney/Pixar movies.

My IIMM about Turning Red is that early in the movie, we were wondering where it was supposed to take place. I assumed San Francisco because it was a somewhat hilly city, there was a trolley, and signs for Chinatown. Then I saw a store awning with a phone number on it, and I googled the area code and sure enough, San Francisco. Then in like the very next scene the movie explains that it is set in Toronto, and starts showing Canadian flags. I was very confused.

Haven't seen Turning Red yet, but someone told me to google the working titles and I got a good laugh out of those. TVTropes, but that's where google took me. TVTropes posted:According to the "Making Of" video, the film had various developmental names, some of the pun-based title variety. Such examples include: Notorious RPG (Red Panda Girl), My Neighbor Toronto, PMS (Panda Mayhem Syndrome), Girl In Red, Panda Prime, Anything But Red, Big Deal, and Fei-Fei/Fei Li and A Panda.

Huh I should check out Turning Red if it is a metaphor for puberty. Now that I think about it, Turning Red is going to be Pixar's version of Tern Wolf, isn't it? Like how A Bug's Life ripped off Seven Samurai and Cars ripped off Doc Hollywood? This is 100% pure speculation on something I haven't seen yet.

Does lycanthropy make the wolf form of whatever is afflicted by it retain characteristics of the host, and that's why people werewolves are generally bipedal, or is that just the default form of a werewolf? Cause, like, imagine a quadruped werewolf with an elephant trunk. edit: a werewolf giraffe with just a really fuckin' long neck

Werelephant? Also the analogy goes oddly well with Teen Wolf being more about being black than most 80s movies about being black.

I've been watching the Highlander TV series from the 90's and one thing about the whole Highlander deal is bothering me. I get that they can't fight on holy ground, sure. That was established in the movie and it's also a useful narrative device so your hero and your villain can have actual scenes together. I'm not gonna question that. But the immortals can't teleport. When one guy walks out of the church, the other guy could just like follow him out the parking lot and force a sword fight there. It makes sense for MacLeod to always be doing the honorable thing and letting the bad guy leave so they don't endanger any bystanders, but eventually one of the bad immortals has gotta try that move, right?

That character is part of why I was thinking about this though, since there a several episodes after that where MacLeod is hanging out his thousand year old monk buddy and then the bad guy immortal of the week rolls up to taunt them. Seems like one of those villains could just chill out in a pew until Mac gets bored and agrees to just go fight 'em.

Cause, like, imagine a quadruped werewolf with an elephant trunk. The were in werewolf means man, so a werewolf is a manwolf, lycanthropy likewise is a portmanteau of lycus, meaning wolf, and anthro, meaning man. So presumably if other animals became a werewolf or contracted lycanthropy they would also turn into wolf-men. And an were-elephant would be a man who turns into an elephant, an elephantwolf would have lychydermy or something.

Darius. He was an awesome character but the actor who played him had some form of cancer and didn't live much longer than when his episodes aired The holy ground thing was mentioned in either the show or a movie, where the last record of a fight happening on it was Vesuvius, so no one is really wanting to test the theory that holy ground only extends so far.
