Vintersorg posted:Here's some Priest worship. This is cool but not quite scratching the same itch that I've still got since seeing Priest last night, they still rule. Before Painkiller, Scott forgot where he was and was trying to get the "New York City" crowd amped up, but Newark, New Jersey was trying their best to let him know we didn't take kindly to that. Setlist was pretty good, but I don't know why they still like playing The Green Manalishi so much, would have rather they mixed in Dissident Aggressor, Sinner, Deceiver or anything off Stained Class.

Immutable is out and it's absolutely crushing. Was worried that covid troubles and a long production time would lead to a subpar end result but it's one of their best albums, Phantoms is an immediate favorite.

I wanna go to a DF show just to see if Herman Li is really doing all that cool shredding. I assume he is but I've read the debate online so many times.

Took my daughter to see Corrosion of Conformity + Melvins + Ministry on Friday. Great show. Ministry opened with a big visual that said "MINISTRY STANDS WITH UKRAINE" and played the Ukranian anthem (at least that's what I'm assuming it was). It was our first concert since covid hit so it was especially meaningful.

I assume he is but I've read the debate online so many times. i saw them during their giant surge of popularity right after Inhuman Rampage released and I can definitely say that they walked out on stage while a backing track was playing the tapping intro of Through the Fire and the Flames, so he definitely doesn't play that live All the other noodling seemed legit though from what I could tell

I vaguely remember an interview later where he said the Inhuman Rampage era involved a lot of live shortcuts they weren't proud of and have gotten better since then? But I could be completely misremembering. Man I'd love to see them live but lol going to concerts while the 6th wave launches

I recall hearing that their live sound was pretty trash circa 2006, but that might have just been a bad show in the ATL region.

You pretty much have the right of it regarding DFs live sound. It wasn’t great in the inhuman rampage era (they weren’t quite ready for the massive surge in popularity by their own admission). They’ve since tightened things up tremendously, and their last 2 times I’ve seen them (2019 and 2022) have been some of the best performances I’ve witnessed outta them out of the 21 times I’ve seen them live.
