I finally got around to getting this. I'm stuck in character creation because I kind of want to make an average person character and set everything to 3. Would I be loving myself down the line if I did that? Is this one of those games where average is actually bad?

Stats don't really determine much beyond what sort of dialogue you get, it's not like an RPG. There's even an achievement for being extremely boring and normal! I would recommend picking a kind of just normal guy and building that, like "can't stop talking about music" guy or meathead. Harry isn't a blank canvas and he's never going to be like, NORMAL normal so best to build around that

Otherwise, just embrace failure because failure doesn't mean you won't be rewarded. Even picking one of the builds at the start of the game is fine. Just jump in and see what happens.

You don't, Harry's portrait only changes when you look in the mirror.
