In the original I don't think the dude showed up much, but the writer had to make Lisa more of a saint. I imagine the publisher balked at the idea of a virgin birth.

I can't even keep up with the bautiverse retcons

he could also warn the dude he was watching on TV when he first went back that he's gonna get shot in 7 years too

Oh boy this got really lovely because it comes way too close to a parallel of a trans person getting discovered by their partner and their partner getting angry over it.

And I know that would probably be a stretch in any other comic and just reading too much into it but this is Holbrook who uses predator'prey relationships as a metaphor for interracial marriage, so even if that's not what he intends, it's his own goddamn stupid fault for using situations like this as parallels to real world bigotry in the first place.

Can I ask how? I came out to my mom in the mid 2000's (I kinda had to as my girlfriend sent me roses for Valentine's Day as a surprise) but there was a real fear of getting kicked out, and I was very worried about telling anyone I was a lesbian. Syrup of ipecac is no longer produced or sold in most parts of the world, because inducing vomiting is no longer the recommended treatment for most poisonings, and the drug turned out to be pretty toxic on its own. The usual treatments now include activated charcoal and stomach pumping.

Even if they decided that making the dog vomit was the correct way to get the tooth back, as opposed to say endoscopy under anesthesia, that is done in veterinary practice these days with hydrogen peroxide.
