In honor of 4/20, can someone post that really bad political cartoon of a hippie smoking weed on grass next to a fence (with the fence and grass proportions messed up) with a cop saying something like "no big deal, they're only smoking weed!" Or something of that nature?

Rowe: Scott Morrison fends off claim Solomon Islands-China pact is worst foreign policy failure since 1945 (Guardian). MP is Marise Payne, the foreign minister. Z is Zed Seslja, the federal Pacific minister. Zed is a rather junior minister and the only member of government sent to the Solomons in recent months while they knew the deal was imminent - Morrison himself or the foreign minister did not go. Pope: David Pope is cartoonist for the Canberra Times so they know Zed Seslja as their Liberal senator (prior to that territory opposition leader). Zed is potentially in trouble this election as the Morrison government isn't too hot in the ACT. The ACT elects two senators in our preferential system which usually means it's a lock for one Labor, one Liberal (Zed) but there is a big push from both Greens and a green-friendly platform independent (former rugby player David Pocock) so Zed has been warning about the "extreme greens". Shakespeare: Playing "April Sun in Cuba" on the ukulele is what Scott Morrison did in an interview with 60 Minutes which why this keeps coming up in all the cartoons. Lethbridge: First cruise ship to arrive in Australia for two years due to COVID-19 pandemic docks in Sydney (ABC). Herbert: Leak, Son of Leak: Zali Steggall is the independent MP (and former Olympic alpine skier) in Tony Abbott's old seat that is up against Katherine Deyes, Morrison's hand picked candidate who was apparently picked entirely for her campaign against trans people in sport (which has then spiraled as all her other views of LGBT+ people on social media are being dug up). There is a theory that the reason Morrison put Deyes in this position isn't so she wins but so this can be an issue in the campaign.

You know what this Prickly City 'storyline' makes me think of, more than anything? A show without any kind of budget, like those sitcoms where they'd leave the main set, then come back saying things like "wow that party was wild!" or "you should have seen the big game!", except this is a cartoon strip where they could draw anything they want, they're just too lazy, and too afraid of saying anything that might be mistaken for an opinion. Do we see anything about the election? No, of course not, but it's a nailbiter trust us.

Worth noting that past the headlines and talking points on this, the underlying law that the Republicans are using to do this also bars things like Common Core, which is almost certainly the actual basis for all the rejections.

I can't find the specific screenshot, but someone managed to actually wrangle an example out of them, and it was a textbook that included Social-Emotional Learning in its curriculum, on the very reasonable grounds that this was both a good thing to teach kids and learning math through the lens of treating your fellow people like humans and them returning the favor demonstrably improved students' retention rate. The ban reason was "math should only be numbers." You're looking for the stupidest explanation, which is often a fair bet, but in this case it's actually the evilest explanation.
